I watched as fear invaded my father's eyes - this man who was never afraid of anything... Perhaps for your comedy you would like to visit some dementia facilities. I have - I didn't find anything comedic there, and my hope would be that if you're a decent human being, you wouldn't either."

Not a decent, humane thing to do. Anyone who thought this was going to be done about their father would be outraged...and rightfully so.

I know it was meant to be a comedy. But let's not forget the basis of it of when the disease started isn't even true. It's been. Liberal myth for years.

Ferrell has some movies that were billed as comedies but had more serious undertones; Stranger Than Fiction and Everything Must Go come to mind.

Pretty sure it was described as a comedy in the articles I read. They were going to portray Reagan with dementia and loss of memory of being president. Then tell him his current acting role was as president.

To make it about Reagan isn't a good idea at all. That's some pretty dark humor. Not surprised no one would touch it and that it won't be made.

He was diagnosed in 1994, but many (including his son Ron) believe that it began much earlier (1984 or thereabouts). Not sure how that qualifies as a liberal myth.

I'm guessing that Reagan was suffering from the early stages of dementia while in office. Some have claimed signs were there even during his first term. His son Ron, made claims he saw signs as early as 1984 in his book (they didn't have the best of relationships). Leslie Stahl also claims she was close to reporting Reagan's diminished state after a disturbing encounter in the late 80's. White House doctors and others deny those claims. There are enough incidents from enough people with nothing to gain to lend credence to the "myth". I've never heard it described as a myth though. I think most believe he had some issues especially late in his presidency.
