Indiana is Trump's last hurdle. I'm anxiously awaiting polling data from Indiana that accounts for the Cruz and (1 for 43) Kasich marriage. I suspect the GOP electorate is going to reject collusion.

 

In the NY primaries, democrats were trying to cross over to vote for Trump. Trump can turn NY red and NJ, PA and CT into states that Clinton will have to spend money and time to defend. The whole red state/blue state map will be redrawn.

 

 

What leads you to believe this? Nothing I have seen even makes New York even remotely close.

Looks like we will get 2 dandies , 1 a political novice , a blow hard with zero class and only a small bit of dignity . A leader who talks before engaging the brain far far too often . And a rotten old crook , someone far more part of the problem than the solution. Thats what happens when your country is headed down hill like a run away freight train. And when you turn down good , honest, decent candidates - Like O'malley and Rubio .

Just had a thought , would be ok to declare conservatism dead as it stands today ? Yeah we got about 40-45 % of the populace but that isn't enough to win any more . I mean the R party is ready to lose to a total outsider who certainly isn't a conservative . If a superbly trained , experienced , rock solid conservative can't win the nomination , who can ? I'm very sad over it but my thoughts are Cruz would get killed by the old hag in the fall while Trump stands a great chance in the fall. Because our electorate is goofy.

I'm from NY. Contrary to popular belief, north of Weschester County, NY is very conservative and has been hit hard by free trade issues. You also have to consider how weak Hillary really is. Her support from Black Americans is dwindling as a result of Bill's crime legislation that has 1.4 million black Americans incarcerated.

 

IMO, this voter base is in play. I believeTrump can convince this population segment that the answer to this problem is jobs that allow you to raise a family, and that the continuation of the status quo "Nanny State" does not advance their interests.

Who Trump picks as his VP will determine if he will win the general election or not.

I think you may be right on social conservativism, especially when religion is trying to integrate with government. I think more and more want their religion to be private and not be a part of government. They also want their bodies, sexual preferences, etc. not to be governed If wanting religion and these things governed and legislated and that is conservatism then I agree ground is being lost.

 

Fiscal conservatism, I don't agree. I do think the majority are more fiscally conservative. The problem with that is we can't decide what is the best expenditure of the funds. I could balance the budget , as could most people, by basically, stop spending in some areas. But where I would cut spending probably wouldn't be where you would or the next person would, etc.

 

The Republicans would crush the Democrats nationally if they could be open to differences people have. Their policies are not. They have a much better handle on fiscal issues in a more common sense manner, but it has not and will not play on the path they are going with social issues they carry. Another reason Trump isn't popular with the GOP is he is much more tolerant on SOME of these issues.

After last nights results will Donald Trump be the Republican nominee? I know several on here said early on there were no way, but guys it sure is looking like it. Seems like after the Cruz/Kasich deal he has gotten stronger.

I disagree with Trump on so many issues and also despise him as a person so I can't imagine any scenario where I would vote for him. One should not vote based on whether they have an R or D by their names but by the issues and views they stand by. What you are basically saying is the former and that I should be voting for the GOP regardless of the who the candidate is. That is unbelievably wrong on so many levels and should be discouraged.

IMHO Trump, or nearly anyone, is better than Hillary. She is as corrupt as they come.
