Switching gears slightly, think beyond Jared, why are putting non-violent offenders in prison populations with violent offenders, especially ones prone to violence against other inmates and/or prone to vigilante justice?

 

Because the penal system, along with the overall criminal justice system is broken. There are two sides to this coin, the mental health condition and the violation of our laws.

 

If we ever expect to reduce recidivism rates, we have to look closely at our process of incarceration and stop letting "toy law enforcement" employees run these institutions. The amount of money not spent on working on mental health issues is then wasted on enhanced sentences for acting out behaviors.

 

Let the police do the policing on the street, then figure the better options inside to treat what amounts to criminally insane behaviors....

He is in a low security prison. Mr. Nigg must have not liked Jarod and approached him in the rec yard. He suffered cuts on his hand as well during the beatdown. Mr. Nigg is 60 years old.

I am not condoning violence. But they play a game with different rules in prison. He is a target in that game and it'll never change. I accept that. If this happened in the free world I'd have a different stance on it. But it didn't.

 

Until he gets taken out of general population (or wherever he was when he was assaulted) he will continue to be a punching bag and a pin cushion.

Seriously? You have no idea what has happened to or will happen to kids who are being exploited like this. Do you think they asked to be filmed naked or while being sexually abused? By possessing these images, possible having paid or bartered for them, Fogle was contributing to the ongoing exploitation, rape and molestation of children! Not violent? Really?
