I didn't and last year's Boyle County team would beat this year's Mercer County team.

Maybe not you but all folks talked about last year is how LexCath destroyed Boyle County in December and that Boyle didn't have a chance against LexCath in March. Then after they beat LexCath they said Ballard would destroy Boyle County. The reverse then happened and Boyle destroyed Ballard.

We'll see what happens when the lights come on next Wednesday night.

Mercer County has no chance. Period. Comparing common opponents is useless. Dunbar is too quick and they have at least the best if not the two best players on the floor. Mercer County's soft schedule will come back to bite them and Dunbar is just better.

No chance? Is this a serious post? Have you even seen Mercer play or did you just look at the Lafayette score? A team that has lost one game all year has no chance against a mighty 11th region team? Hilarious. I remember the mighty 11th region team choking in Rupp last year. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again. Will Hager is way better than the Lewis kid and he's way stronger than him too. He'll toss Lewis around all night. Dylan is going to hit at least 3 threes and if he gets going watch out. Trevon and Taveion is a wash. They'll both get theirs. I can't wait to come back in here if Mercer wins to see what you have to say then. Mercer can win this game.

I like to think Johnson Central helped Boyle out a little bit in the Ballard game. Per the experts, JC was to get demolished by the #1 team in the state, but somehow found themselves leading half way through the 4th quarter, pushing Ballard to the very end. Had Mason Blair's 3FG counted (called out of bounds when he caught and shot it from the corner), then JC would have had the lead with under 2 to play. Their players were exhausted when the final horn sounded. Call it wishful thinking, but I like to think JC helped wear them down a bit for Boyle when Ballard and the "experts" expected to get a first round cake walk and rest.

The point of this is you cant count any team out in the state tournament as proof by Boyle last year. Lots of factors go into deciding the outcome of a game.

This should be a great game. I like the winner of this game and Christian Co. in the state championship on Sunday. Routing for Coach Cook and Dylan James, but this one is coin toss IMO.

Trevon Faulkner of mercer

Stats for Mercer's "big 3" in the regional tourney:

Faulkner 19.7 & 6.7 (44% FG)

James 18.7 & 5.7 (50% FG)

Hager 18.3 & 8.0 & 6.7 APG (66% FG)

James shot 45% from three for the year and Faulkner shot 40%. Hager averaged nearly 8 APG.

Then they have Dow who is averaging a double-double, along with Mink and a few key reserves. Make no mistake about it, they have the talent to win this game. All this talk about these kids not being used to or unable to play against that type of quickness and talent - Dow, Hager, James and Faulkner have played AAU for years and have fared pretty well.

Dunbar is a GREAT team. Mercer may or may not win, but they're fully capable.

100% agree. Not to mention the 12th Region has had reasonable success against 11th Region teams at neutral sites. I guarantee if you talk to the Dunbar coaches they are concerned about matchups and Mercer County's ability.

Dunbar is out of the 11th region which they have been battke tested. Lafayette(who did beat Mercer by 20) Henry Clay, LexCath and a fee more will give Mercer fits with their speed and athleticism. Tavioen Hollingsworth(Future Mr.Basketball candidate) Darious Williams(current Mr Basketball finalist) and the most improved player in the 11th Jordan (J-Lew) Lewis will lose relentless pressure and speed on and with the ball. Utility man Justin Kelley will play a BIG role in this one matching up with anyone on Mercer. Big man Dontell Brown who had been coking on of late will pose problems for them in the post. Superstars show up with the lights on. I believe this is Dunbar's year. They have 3 phenomenal players at key positions and understand what wimkimg is about. I credit Coach Chalk for equipping them with a brutal s geduke outside the 11th to prepare his team for this one Dunbar by 20. Tavieon and Carious show up for this one on a BIG way. Player for player outside of Trevon Faulkner Mercer doesn't match up well with.

What time does Lafayette play?? Oh that's right...they don't!!

LIKE. Well said

I'll go with Dunbar. I am not visually impressed with Mercer County (ok, I haven't seen them play:-) so I can't go with them. Actually, I haven't seen PLD play either, but since minidoomer1 and minidoomette went to PLD and minidoomer2 played for Scott Chalk...I'll go with them. End of story...close the thread.

Statistically Mercer has 1 nice 3 point shooter while Dunbar doesn't shoot many 3's. Dunbars leading rebounder isn't relied on to score while Mercers is. Mercer has 4 guys in double figure scoring while Dunbar only has 3 but one of them is over 20 ppg.

Faulkner shoots 40% from deep? What do you consider as good?

Someone who shoots a bunch of threes and makes a bunch. One of Mercers players is MAKING 1.4 per game and shooting 44% on it. No one else on either team is close to him.
