Keep in mind that everyone is looking to see what's working, what's not....we didn't look all that good against SC and LC in 2004, and blasted MBA, and Chaminade....

After reviewing this thread and the previously closed T/SC thread it seems as though I may have started the controversy over the score of the scrimmage. I still thought that SC's varsity scored a touchdown in each of the first three quarters. It now seems as though that was not the case. If I was wrong, I am sorry. I'll try and do better on Friday against LC. "GO ROCKS"

Hey rock86, your avatar "ROCKS"

This is true, but the offensive line had their own issues. I bet the coaches are looking for others to fill those defensive line positions before calling on anyone else. Just my take. As I said earlier, you gotta have faith. After last year, how can you not have faith?

I was surpise that the O-line didn't hold S.C. D-line more than what they did.

Our D.E. Sacked the Q.B. 3 times and that's not the including the safety that our D.T. got. I noticed the they aren't as large has they have been in the past. They seem to be as tall but not as large. IMO

Actually this line will be as big as the Rocks have in a few years. Bigger down the line than last year.

As the year goes along Dane and Sam will see alot of Def. playing time. The Def. backs will do great with their current D.B.s !!!

How can you keep Dane out? wasn`t he the one that made the good tackle on Anderson last year? didn`t that tackle win the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP last year??

I don't know if we will see much two way play on the D-line. Today a player was moved from D-line to O-line.

BTW, while Dane made a great tackle, the best the Tigers could do if he failed was cut the lead to two. The Tigers would have completed a two point conversion just to tie. I would say that no one deserves more credit than Nick Petrino for winning that game. Threw for a TD, ran for a TD and made a critical first down from under the shadow of his own goalpost to seal the deal.

Typical , so typical , every year until November, everyone either plays down the Rocks, or struggles to understand............keyword :November............Trust the Coaches , and trust our players.

The key from now until the , a, last game , is not to be the best until it means the most . AND , that is in the last game. Trinity will be a work in progress while building a little at a time. No crown is handed out just yet, especially in August !..............................an 8 point lead when the "famed " tackle happened.....................to be honest, ...........it was indeed a TEAM win.......surely not a one tackle win shheeeesshhhh he did what he was supposed to do.........dust off and back in the huddle.....T-R-I-N-I-T-Y FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^ yes, but it was reset after every quarter up to 3 quarters. Pesky KHSAA rules or something...

Point well made, bottom line it was a team effort!!:thumb:

the O-line had only played in that configuration for three days....M - W, Th was walk throughs....2 of 5 playing where they did last year, 1 from last year playing a new spot and the other 2 positions being contended for....they will figure it out....both the coaches and players....these all are pretty talented kids that would be welcomed by any staff in the state....

It's really amazing that Scott Co. was able to perform as well as they did against the pebbles at the landfill considering that their best two players, Andrews and Warren, could not play. Here is the Georgetown News report on the scrimage:

Cards varsity clips Trinity in preseason

By JOSH UNDERWOOD

Georgetown News-Graphic

Scott County led host Louisville Trinity 16-15 after three quarters of varsity action in a preseason football scrimmage Friday.

Quarterback Brandon Law_son scored on a 60-plus-yard option run, and Eric Sanders caught a 60-plus-yard TD pass from Lawson.

Scott County's defense also registered a safety against Trinity, last year's Class 4A state champion.

The fourth quarter consisted of JV competition.

Cardinals quarterback Cody Andrews (tricep) and receiver Jimmie Warren (ankle) sat out the scrimmage.

"In 2002, they beat us (56-14) in three quarters, and then we went 11-1," Scott County Coach Jim McKee said. "I'm encouraged."

Still, the Cards showed several "glaring errors," McKee said, including on special teams.

The Cards twice had the wrong number of players on the field on special teams and failed to convert on two field-goal attempts, one by miss and the other one mishandled, McKee said.

The Cardinals will now turn their attention to fitness.

"This week, we're going to get healed and get in shape," Mc_Kee said. "There's no way we could have won the (scrimmage against Trinity) if we played another quarter. Our tank was on empty. But it was encouraging to scrimmage St. X and Trinity and both of them be basically even."

Scott County is scheduled to host Woodward (Ohio) at 8 p.m. Aug. 25 in its first game of the regular season

In no way did I question the talent. If it was taken that why; my apolgy.

But this does explain alot.

Thank for your reply.

Has it ever crossed anyone's mind that, God forbid, Scott County might be just as good as T and X?

That has crossed my mind, especially since t has remarked over the past 4 years how Scott Co. was such an overrated team, after clobbering them in scrimmages. It's really funny how this year the word is that the game was strickly a scrimmage (practice), and the fact that it was not the normal blowout in favor of the pebbles is a meaningless thing. Let's face facts, Scott Co. has a GOOD TEAM!
