The official is a very honest guy. He called the foul because of Johnson who is #11 pushed him on the shot. Johnsons hand is on the lower back of Blair. Sure it could have been overlooked but he felt it was a foul. That's what he called the foul for. A push in the back on the shot.

 

I honestly don't see the push that you keep referring to. And according to the other posters on this thread they don't see it either, and one or two of them may have been former referees. Unlike you, most the posters in this thread are neutral in this discussion, with no allegiance to either school. You can't get anymore impartial than that.

Sorry to disappoint you but if hazard would have won I would be at the next game with a bulldog shirt on. I know all these kids. Yes I'm a PCC fan and I stated that it very well could have been a no call just like many before that. It just happened to be the last play. All I'm trying to say is that Dexter thought he pushed him in the back. These refs are honest people and if they were not hell hazard has all the bankers kids not PCC. Lol

If u stop this play second by second or frame by frame Johnson fouls Blair as he tries to go by him on the foul line and his hand never leaves his back the whole trip. If u stop it on the shot his hand is on his back and he has his back completely bowed. I've watched the replay and the defender is beat and trailing the play and the help side comes over and makes the play to block the shot. Let those young men play another overtime. 1 call usually doesn't make a game but this one did.

I've watched the replay from two different angles in slow motion and I don't think he has his hand on him. It kind of looks like he does at first glance but he has his fingers on both hands pointing straight upward. It's sort of an optical illusion.

But regardless, the so called hand check you keep referring to is not what he called anyway. The referees arm goes up when the shot was attempted, not before. He called the foul on the attempted block shot and there was no foul there, as the tape clearly shows.

If that hand check is a foul then I don't want to see any game where that is called. It would end with the last 5 in and a FT contest

Playing all of those teams to determine seeding would have been complicated. As consolidations and closings came about in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, the districts got smaller and seeding became more reasonable. The small schools became fewer and the blind draw remained their last, best hope to advance to the region. And while some of you will say too bad, those schools should seed, a mandate by the KHSAA to require seeding would most likely lead to a much louder trumpeting of class basketball.

Did you grow up in the 1930s when roads were limited or the 1940s when World War II travel restrictions were in place? I say that because those travel problems led to traditional ways of playing and therefore the blind draw stuck around. Also, most districts have mixes of big teams and small teams. Most of the small teams didn't want to play the big teams any more than they had to. The same reason is used by districts that draw today.

No that's directed at the KHSAA and any district who chooses to do a blind draw for any reason. It's stupid and should go away immediately.
