I've heard it a number of times. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why people get so upset at Christie about that. His home state was LITERALLY a disaster area following a hurricane, and President Obama was there surveying the damage in order to assess how much federal assistance would be required for the recovery. I know that if my house was destroyed by a natural disaster, I would damn-sure be extremely grateful to anyone who offered to help me rebuild...democrat, republican, socialist, communist, bull moose, or wig.

 

I think the fact that republicans get their panties in a wad over that whole thing goes to show how readily they will completely shoot themselves in the foot just to puff out their chests and thumb their noses at the democrats.

I really do think he had zero chance in this cycle due to his bromance on the beach. Even though Romney was a less than stellar candidate who may have lost anyway, he actually had some momentum up until that hurricane struck. Obama had an opportunity to be shown in the midst of a catastrophe which helped him a great deal, but Christie lauding him as a hero definitely helped stem any momentum Romney had at that point. You can bet that if Christie had gotten any traction in this cycle, someone would have begun bludgeoning him with the Obama bromance club.

It was a good move on his part. He had an eye on 2016. If Romney had won in 2012, Christie would have had to look toward 2020.
