Under-Recruited Players in 2016?

Featured Replies

I don't know that many schools recruit based on HS games anymore. I know a girls basketball talent evaluator and he told me he rarely goes to a HS game unless it's two top rated teams. He goes to a lot of events (Lex. Cath tourney, LIT, etc.) so that he can see lots of players in a short period of time, but he mostly evaluates at large AAU tournaments. So unless kids are playing at one of these, they aren't going to be seen.

Tyler Sharpe has offers from Trevecca (D2), KY State (D2), Pikeville, Cinci Christian, Indiana SE, Marion, Cumberlands (NAIA) Preferred Walkon SEMO D1, he is hearing from South Carolina Upstate (D1) Ky Wesleyan (D2) Kings (D2) Carson Newman (D2)

It's tough out there at D1 level for a 6'1 shooting guard ..

Thanks for that update! I know he's undersized, but he's tough and can just flat out play. I think small D1, but he can play D1 for sure. Not saying he'd be a star, but a key piece down the line.

There are guys who are 6'4 6'5 all over the country that are tough and can play at the same position. There is a reason he has a bunch of small school offers and zero d1 schools

Sharpe is not even close to 6'1. His dribbling is nowhere near where it needs to be when you are that size.

Perhaps it's been mentioned before and I missed it, but has Markel McClendon of Holmes been given any offers?

Though there might be some things in his game that needs a little work, the kid is so darn quick and smooth that I'd hate to see his career end with high school.

I don't think he has peaked yet, and would love to see what a bit of maturity at the next level could bring for him.

Sharpe is absolutely 6'1". I've actually stood beside him.

We will just agree to disagree on his height but can I assume you agree with my statement about his handles since it wasn't refuted.

As I sat at the Dunbar game last night I found myself wondering how it's possible a kid like Jordan Lewis, who is an elite athlete with a basketball IQ through the roof, could not have a single college offer at any level right now.

Lots of kids across Kentucky are under-recruited in my opinion.

Why do you think this is and who are some of the most under-recruited kids in the state in the class of 2016?

Heard that Vincennes (JUCO) is recruiting the kid.

There's nothing to disagree about. Height is a fact. Not an opinion.

Blake Smith from Clay County is under recruited IMO. He is ranked in the top 15 in class of 2016. Kids numbers are as good or better than anyone in the state while having to guard the best player on the other team night in and out. He also faces double teams almost every night. Leads team in scoring, fg percentage, steals, assists, blocks and deflections.

He currently holds several NAIA offers and is being recruited by several D2 schools, but can't seem to garner alot of D1 interest. He regularly out performs kids that have already received d1 offers and shuts alot of them down.

I definitely agree with if your not on a top level AAU team then your not getting looked at.

Nick Mabe- Barren county PG High basketball IQ, Quick with a motor that don't stop, very good rebounder from the PG position. 5-11 to 6' Not D-1 talent, but could certainly play at the next level. Being recruited for football.

Sharpe is legit 6'1. He can score the ball at all 3 levels, and is a very underrated defender. The kid has instincts. The "it" factor. He could play at several D1 schools. But I really think he'd be an all time great at any D2 school.

He handles the ball adequately. But he's definitely a 2 guard.
