Last Night's Debate

Featured Replies

I missed the debate as I was watching a Barrett Jackson Car Auction on TV last night. I did watch a few minutes of coverage afterwards. One thing that stuck out was that everyone commenting on how civil they treated each other and there was a lack of name calling (hit at Trump).

Megyn Kelly agreed but said that she had an entirely different set of questions prepared if Trump showed up. The way she said it, led me to believe is that the questions would have drug the discussion more towards personal attacks and away from actual political debate.

If Fox, CNN or anyone else wants Trump to go away...make him answer substantive questions on policy, then he either sinks or swims on his own merit. If they go into these things with "Special Trump" questions they are playing into his hand and allowing him to answer with sound bites and attacks without stating solid political positions.

I for one think it was a mistake for Trump not to appear last night, but hearing that "Special planted questioners" were brought in to question him from the crowd and Kelly admitting that she had "Special questions" or "Gotcha questions" I guess he felt he was being led to slaughter.

I think it will cost him in Iowa some support and according to CNN he is in New Hampshire today...has he given upon Iowa?

If people don't punish Trump for not showing up then his gamble paid off.

As the poll leader he had the most to lose in a debate and he's not great at them. In his absence Cruz becomes target #1 and gets beaten up by the rest.

Fox was constantly inviting the audience to use "Google.com" to search the candidates, but apparently Trump was the top search.

The ratings for the first Fox debate were 25M. Last night's were 13M. Trump seems too modest to do this, but he might bring that up.

You know you have to be in Scottsdale to buy something, right? I was watching with you.

Shocked to hear Fox let a bernie sanders supporter grill the candidates on some sort of anti- Muslim hate bull crap . And yes thats exactly what I think about it . So much for Fox bias . Wonder if the MSNBC would let a Trump/Cruz/Rubio supporter ask questions to the 3 stooges ?

Dude, are you seriously being critical of that 15 yo Muslim-American girl who is concerned about the safety of Muslims like herself and was advocating for more tolerance in America towards Muslims. She was born here in America and is just as much American and you or I.

That is what you think is "anti-Muslim hate bull crap" ?

I watched the entire debate taking a break from all the new Syfy shows out. :Blackalien:

I don't know what it is about Cruz but he turns me off. I don't necessarily think he is a bad candidate but he is probably my least favorite of the group from last night.

I do like Rubio, I think he was consistently pretty strong last night.

I see we have Pros and Cons with Christie's approach. I liked it. One thing is for sure, Christie comes across as a strong leader. He gained ground in my mind last night.

Bush was solid. If somehow Bush ended up being President I would feel pretty certain he would do a solid job. I like Bush, but on his own, nothing to do with the family which I liked too.

The fact that Rand is from KY always makes me root for him. Sometimes I feel like he is a little out there but last night he made a lot of sense. I like his approach to the budget, to states rights, to foreign policy, and the government spying on us. I think Rand Paul has a lot of excellent ideas.

Carson was fine, we could do a lot worse. I don't think he is the President for me but I wouldn't be losing any sleep if he was elected.

Kasich turned me off a little last night. Considering I live in a suburb of Cincinnati, Kasich is my Governor too but when he refused to address back doors into cell phone technology he gave me the evil dictator vibe.

In my mind I would call Kasich and Cruz the losers. I would call Rubio, Rand, and Christie the winners. Finally I would put Bush and Carson in the middle as doing okay. Again everyone, that is just me.

She's 24 hot shot . And yes . That was a waste of time question from a open Bernie Sanders supporter , and before you attempt to put words in my mouth I don't think muslim americans deserve any unfair deal or " HATRED " but to pick that question from that lady was absurd . Again do Republicans get to grill the Dems during their debates ?

Shoot, the MODERATORS don't even get to grill the Dems during their debates. The script to protect Hillary is to give them the questions ahead of time and let them preach to the lemmings.

However, the RNC signed off on the Muslim lady and it's good to make candidates answer uncomfortable questions. They better be ready to deal with adversity if they want to be president.

This.

Agreed. For some, maybe Trump went down a notch as a result.

You'd think so but logic seems to work opposite where he's involved.

Yeah, but I do enjoy watching.

I love cars...older the better.

Not sure where I got 15. Maybe she said something about 15 years since 9/11. Anyway, if she's feeling the Bern then she has a good head on her shoulders.

Two words: No Show(for worko)

I know you won't admit to it but you fear Rubio more than the second coming. He is the main candidate who can stop the Queen H.

If Rubio can some how quadruple his poll numbers and surpass the Fuhrer, you may have a point, but not happening. Barring a miracle Rubio will be back at work in the Senate after Super Tuesday...well...maybe he will.
