Do all college coaches have a gentlemen's agreement …

Featured Replies

… to never go 2-for-1 in late-half and late-game situations? I can't tell you how often I see college coaches ignore the 2-for-1 concept when it could clearly help their team. Georgia Tech today is the latest example.

Or are they just too stupid to figure it out?

I agree with you, "Schue".

For years, I have wondered why college coaches do not use the concept of 2 for 1.

My guess is they don't see it as much of an advantage or otherwise, it would be used.

Don't get me going on it. I've voiced my frustrations before with it. I also think that below the NBA level, guys/kids just don't have a good grasp on time, possession, and situation. The coaches know this.

I'm not sure if the coaches have a good grasp on those things.

I've been saying this for as long as I can remember.

Drives me nuts.

I always wondered if two crappy shots are better than one good shot.

I must be dense (not a surprise to many).

What do you mean by 2 for 1?

Say one team has the ball with 55 seconds left in the half and instead of taking the shot clock all the way down they take a shot with about 40 seconds left so they can get another possession before the end of the half or game.

Basketball 2 for 1.

I've heard they offer 2 for 1 at some establishments.

Wasn't that Katina Powell's offer?

Thanks.

Thanks.

You're welcome

A rhetorical question.

The answer is very often "no". That's why lots of coaches don't do it.

I opened this thread thinking UL had done something idiotic again. I'm disappointed to say the least. The thread title had UL written all over it.

UK did the same thing today. They called a timeout with like 57 seconds left in the first half, then proceeded to run the shot clock down and allowed Vandy to get the last shot.
