This is what I've always thought. College coaches want to play out the possession to try and get the optimum look at the basket. What works in the NBA doesn't work in college because college players can't make shots.

 

But what drives me nuts is that they will dribble at half court for 20-25 seconds then go in one on one or screen and roll and take a bad shot.

Every team's got a set of plays they run in end-game situations with 4-10 seconds left on the clock. Get it down quick, make a couple passes and catch somebody off a cut. You can put your best shooter in that position very easily.
