In all fairness to UK#1FAN, by last count, I think he only claimed they have 23 of them.

To me, he is a prime example of what is wrong with UK Football. Supposedly the choices were down to UK and Alabama, yet he chose UK. Sure he saw the field pretty much right away at UK but has yet to show much of anything after 2 years. Would he have even seen the field at Alabama or has he simply not been coached up at UK like he would have at UK. The one game I saw him in live action I thought he had potential, but needed some work, especially on his physique.

 

Saw him play in HS. I didn't think he warranted the hype that he was getting. He plays way to high and gets pushed all over the place..

Describe True D1 stud. You are asking about him as a player. A stud to me is a kid who gets a ride to play college football, gets a great education for free and goes on to a business career after school.

Wanted to say career, but didn't want to just infer a career in sports. Struggled with 'give back to society', 'become useful in this world'.

Just wanted to say make the most of those 4 years and have a productive after college life.

Just watching highlights of Drake Jackson, I would put him in the "stud" category.

And what you said there in your last sentence is why Kentucky continues to struggle. Yes the kid had/has size, but technique was not very good then and is not much better now. To me, way too much emphasis is placed on how the kid looks rather than seeing him perform in game situations that are not just highlight tapes. Biggest problem I see with college recruiting these days. Guess that is why you have so many walk-ons having success because what they bring to the table each and every day cannot be measured.

Exactly, have seen colleges pick up potential raw talent over true football players all the time. I don't agree with it, but that's the way it is now.

Why are we having a "discussion" about true D-1 talent? There are actual lists every spring. If you get a scholarship and put on a uniform at any one of 345 schools you are D-1 talent.

He already has offers from UC and Wake as well as UL.

Lots of D1 talent go to smaller schools to play sooner, better education, stay close to home etc.

D1 stud is the question... Kentucky has alot of solid HS studs but it's been a while since we've produced a true D1 stud at the college level. Quite a few boys have made commits to D1 schools but get washed away in the lineup by true studs. Size strength and speed are the important things but in order to hang with the needs of D1 programs you have to survive academically as well. All these factors are a rare combination that produces a STUD!

In WKY I saw two kids who I would call studs!

Dee Cain and the DE from Murray. Thought both BG and Owensboro had 4/5 kids a piece who could play at the D2 level(Murray State types). BG had a O-lineman that could play big-time if redshirted and had patience to wait till his junior year or so. He had good size and decent foot speed.
