Agreed. I really don't have an issue with the father. I can see where he was possibly trying to get the ref out of the pile, even after they fell backwards, the fall wasn't fast or hard. I do think at that point that from what I can tell that the ref crossed the line by kicking the father.

 

If the ref made those threats, this whole thing is on him.

 

(Edit) After reading Watusi's report about the ref and his threats, I am not sure where to go with this. Hopefully after some interviews and all the ones who need to be punished will be punished.

I was told the guy in the white shirt is the brother of one of the referees.

 

He is a Pike County employee, but is off on disability. :idunno:

Also to clarify this misleading title on this thread..... This was not a brawl. Just a little scuffle with very few people involved in the actual fight. Look up some video for brawls if you want to see what that really is.....

 

NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. THIS IS A BRAWL. A despicable, uncalled for, out of the ordinary BRAWL. Everyone involved should be banned from attending games. The coaches from Belfry should NEVER be allowed in organized sports again. The father of the coaches should be banned from attending events, and lose his magistrate position (obviously he has no business being a public servant). The referees should also be banned from even attending organized sports much less being a part of them.

Like I said earlier, put the blame and punishment with whom it belongs. This started long before what the video shows

Seems to me that if I felt my team was not going to be treated fairly in a venue that I would simply not appear at said venue in the first place. However, that didn't take place. It is obvious from the clip we have all seen that this was not the beginning of what transpired, but the result of what had already transpired prior to this 2nd Technical being called (which I believe results in the penalized coach leaving the arena at that point). Now we are informed that prior to the game being played, the Belfry coach had requested a change in referees and it was not granted (which probably did nothing more than fuel an existing fire). Once leaving a school, and causing bad blood between the two competing schools, then requesting the referees be disqualified because you felt they were cheaters, and lastly showing up with a chip on your shoulder about the whole thing. What did you expect? Did this coach really think that he would be hailed in his return? Did he actually believe that the opposing school didn't mind his accusations? Did he think, for one second, that the ref wouldn't have a chip on his shoulder for the coach trying to get him basically fired? I don't remember Pitino doing this when he returned to Rupp Arena. You see folks, although the odds are stacked against you, and you feel there is no way out, there is ALWAYS the ability to rise above all the petty in-differences between two parties and play the role of the adult you are required to be in a coaching position of young individuals. To, in any way, defend the actions of the Belfry coach is absurd and a shame. HIS actions alone, prior to and during this contest, are childish and an embarrassment to coaches everywhere at every level who dedicate their time and efforts, both paid and unpaid to the development of youth. This is the type of behavior is conducive to a spoiled child, and those individuals have no business in leadership roles over the youth of this country or leadership roles in ANY capacity for that matter. If this type of leadership is accepted at a school like Belfry, then the whole school should be shut down and closed permanently. At a minimum, the coaching staff should be FIRED, JAILED, and forced to NEVER be involved IN ANY CAPACITY with youth programs anywhere. Not only that, but whoever hired these individuals should be no less than suspended without pay for one year; if not relieved of their duties in the administration of youth permanently. It is time for people to stand up and demand that this type of action will not be tolerated at any level. I am not even touching how anyone that makes excuses for this man or trying to place blame somewhere else should too see the ramifications of their actions. Sports, in general, have been given a black eye because of the reckless actions of individuals just like this one. Instead of showing the hard work, dedication, team work, and thousands of other values that sports offer youth that they can not get anywhere else, we hear of misguided individuals like this coach blatantly disgracing the whole concept. My only hope is that Belfry makes an example of this person and anyone associated with him without bias, and remains the school most of us believe it to be. One where integrity, hard work, and moral values are the forefront and not an afterthought. Current faculty, staff, students, and all alumni should demand NO LESS from the school now and in the future. We shall soon see where this institution stands.

Maybe I missed it but I haven't seen anyone defending any of the participants.

 

The coach has been fired from coaching (and will never coach again in Pike County IMO). The coach, assistant coach, their Dad, and the referees have been barred from all Pike County athletic events. I think some of the other adults have been barred also. Seems appropriate to me.

Out of idle curiosity, where are the Belfry kids going to attend school when theirs is shut down?

I am sure the school system will see to it that this NEVER becomes an issue. By reading the post by Watusi, Belfry is stepping up to the plate and taking the necessary steps to insure that punishment is handed out. I do not know if these punishments cut deep enough, but I am not there and do not know the situation first hand.maybe this coach had a stellar record prior to being employed at Belfry (I doubt it), and this is an isolated incident that could not have been thwarted prior to his employment thus letting the administration off the hook. Regardless, it is a black eye for the Pike County Public School System.
