President's plan to tighten gun laws= rematch with gun lobby

Featured Replies

You can't expect anything differently from our progressive statist friends on here and liberals across the country. The greatest threat to them is a free thinking and independent populous. When they start to lose control over the masses, control being the number one objective and goal of the statist, they will fall back on their only tool they know how to use, rhetoric and empty talk.

:lol2: My vision of free thinking and independent populous differs from yours, to be sure. I see such a citizenry as being able to hold different ideas and ideals withour recriminations from those who hold different ideas and ideals at every turn. I didn't realize the only "free thinking and independent" citizenry all fell in line withat what you believe.

I weep for Australia. Daughter's current beau is from Perth. Pleasant, engaging, bright young man.

So I asked him the other day if it's true that the Australia's perception of America is that we're a nation of gunslinging, warmongering resource-gobbling cowboys.

"Pretty much, yeah."

I've had the pleasure of knowing a family from Australia for years now, wonderful people. They paint quite a different picture.

I've been trying to train my gun, and it just will not submit! I leave it in its holster and it just gets up and moves and then I have to look for it. If anyone sees him loose in the neighborhood, please do not approach, he could be dangerous, he has a mind of his own!

You have a lazy gun.

This is making the rounds again...

My Lazy Gun

I swung my front door wide open and placed my Remington 12-gauge shotgun right in my doorway. I left 5 shells beside it, then left it alone and went about my business.

While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor boy across the street mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign near the front of our house. After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there, right where I had left it. It hadn't moved itself outside. It certainly hadn't killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had been presented to do so. In fact, it hadn't even loaded itself. Well you can imagine my surprise, with all the media hype about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people. Either the media is wrong or I'm in possession of the laziest gun in the world.

The United States is 3rd in Murders throughout the World. But if you take out Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC and New Orleans, the United States is 4th from the bottom for Murders. These 4 Cities also have the toughest Gun Control Laws in the United States. All 4 are controlled by Democrats.

It would be absurd to draw any conclusions from this data - right?

Well, I'm off to check on my spoons - I hear they're making people fat.

This part is not accurate ...

But if you take out Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC and New Orleans, the United States is 4th from the bottom for Murders.

But it makes the correct point that the vast majorty of 'firearm deaths' are in poor urban areas.

Or maybe where gun restrictions are tightest?

But you support a King who rules with a pen? I'm not in a socialist party, I believe in less government and more freedom. There shouldn't be a ruling class, there should be liberty and freedom.

Speaking of Australia....how appropriate is this:

After Americans are disarmed will this be next on the liberal agenda? Current campaign in the UK...

I don't support that nor disarming Americans. I just ask for some more responsibility with who owns guns and more accountability. I've said many times on here that I own three guns. I would be livid if there was a real measure to take away arms from me and other law abiding and sane Americans, but right now we need a little more regulation to minimize the exorbitant amount of deaths in this country due to gun violence.

Be specific. What new regulations could do anything to stem the violence you're talking about?

Not speaking for Hc, but the notion of twiddling our thumbs with our heads in the sand (if that's possible) is deeply troubling to me.

I'm all for being number 1 in most cases, but not this one.

So then be specific what do you want to do and how would it curb gun violence?

I'm not sure why my name is on your list. I have articulated my position numerous times. Not one point that I've made was to take away the rights of the 2nd Ammendment. I HAVE said (sic) it would be no skin off my nose if it happened, but I don't think it's necessary, nor what the solution is. But, I guess I'm either with you or against you, so that's what landed me on your list. And, at least I am in company I like there. :D

So then be specific what do you want to do and how would it curb gun violence?

I'm not going to speak for either of them, but really...if you actually have read any of our posts in any of the eleventy billion threads on the subject, you know. If you don't know, then you obviously chose to assume the worst and not read the words and give them any consideration. So, you dismissed the thoughts because you saw who posted them.
