I stand corrected. At my age, get too excited over games like this and mind goes blank.

"Any team, any given night". Tournaments will be decided by who's hot at the right time. Who can string together 6-8 wins through the District and Region play in the 8th, 9th & 10th

 

 

Agree 100%. This a HUGE win for Augusta. Congrats!!!!. Love to see the smaller schools do well.

Easily the most complete game the Panthers have played this year. Excellent job of ball control by the team. Ate up a lot of clock in doing so and seemed to wear down the much taller Pioneers. Just like the Campbell County game, the Panthers used their speed to combat the SK's size. Much better shot selection in this one though, leading to a victory. Connor Maddox continues to show he does more than just shoot threes as he hits only 1 in this game while scoring 30 on the night. Camryn Snapp, still not 100% coming back from ACL surgery, isn't scoring a lot but has been strong on the boards. Owens Crawford has been very smooth running the point for the Panthers, and does a nice job of finding open lanes to drive and score. I've preached senior leadership and experience being the keys to victory all season and tonight it was more apparent than ever. It takes everyone working together to hold the ball like they did and for the most part not turning it over ( 9 total turnovers) to be successful like they were. SK really struggled to get in any kind of rhythm at all on the offensive end. Just good, strong, team defense. And in the last couple of weeks, this group has boxed out as well as any Panther team I've seen. It's still very early in the season but this is the kind of game that can propel a group to bigger wins. Coaches draw up a game plan, players execute, team wins.

This is the way......the only way my Panthers reach the the heights I know they want to achieve. I hope this became apparent to all the team over these past 4-5 games. Had they played this way consistently they would have arguably beat both PC & MC. As stated, it's the way they played CC. Proud of my young friends to hang in and keep battling mentally and physically.

He was cleared by his doctor to be able to play. When I say he's not 100% I'm talking about his shot not being where it was before the injury. Stamina wise he's strong, especially in the paint. But I see glimmers of hope on the offensive end with each game.

Huge upset of 8th Region power. Augusta starts five guards with tallest 6'1". Simon Kenton goes 6'8", 6'6", 6'6", 6'4" and 6'2". Augusta wins this game with hustle, rebounding and solid D.

 

Cameron Maddox leads Panthers with 30. Owens Crawford was in total control at PG and contributed 13. Snapp was big on boards and added 6, followed by Pugh with 7, Shoemaker with 4 and Staggs with 3.

 

Augusta known for their threes took less than 5 on the night choosing to dribble drive drawing multiple fouls. Their only successful three was by Maddox. Augusta was exceptional from the line hitting 32 of 41, with 5 misses coming late making for nervous Panther fans.

 

Refreshes Augusta back into conversations of being a player in the 10th.

Yes, it was a nice win, but SK is not an 8th region power.

Saw a brand of Augusta basketball that wasn't there in previous games. Boxing out, taking charges, tight defense and very solid defense. Passed on forcing threes as SK height gave few open looks. Driving to the hoop generated tons of FT opportunities. Great game plan by Kirk and execution by the team. Maddox was all tournament and he gave Panthers great start scoring teams first 10. The confidence from this victory could be huge.

 

I'm thinking the 10th might be much stronger then many think. #1 in 15th Lawrence Co. loses to Mason Co. Arguably #1 or #2 in 8th Simon Kenton loses twice (Montgomery Co. and Augusta). Christmas has been good for 10th Region!

I was at that game and I still don't believe they are that much better than Mason, If the game was played again I believe a much closer outcome would occur with possibly a Mason county win. It was one of those games where one team shoots out of their mind and the other couldn't throw it in the ocean, and Pig sit most of the game in foul trouble. Those 2 factors make this Mason county team very beatable, but I truly was surprised with their performance in the classic, coming in I thought SK could win the whole thing.
