I think the "David and Goliath" stuff is a little much for this game. Augusta has been handing losses to schools bigger than them for a couple seasons now. Everyone knows Augusta can beat you if your not on your game. SK let the game get away and it will be good lesson for playing hard and doing the basics right. SK needs to get Fries into more positions to score, run more offense through him. Also, JC is a great player, if he has a better night SK could have won. JC's combined height and shooting ability could be used better in my opinion, he is a dual threat.

Come on Scrooge. Augusta has 55 boys in top 4 grades. We are not a prep school, just fortunate to have a really nice group of seniors that provide experience and leadership (Quagmire's accurate description. We have been on a healthy run that started with Bent Bach's years and overlapped with this senior group. As to beating bigger school's, granted we have won against a few regional foes in the 700+ students range. I might be mistaken, but I don't think we have ever played a school of Simon Kenton's size, let alone won.

Unless you were part of this modest river city of approx. 1,000, it is probably hard for you to appreciate the pride taken whenever the Panthers beat a quality team, let alone someone of the stature, talents, and history of SK basketball. As to whether they are an 8th Region power, ask the coaches there. They strongly consider SK as a team that will be a major challenge to get through come tournament time.

I certainly meant it as a compliment to the basketball program in Augusta. Over the last several years they have shown themselves to be a tough and solid program. The first time I saw them play I thought they could not possibly be that good given the size of the school, but I was surprised to find them to be a great team. This basketball tradition has obviously continued there. I do not want to diminish the accomplishment of this team of beating SK, so hopefully that makes sense. Congrats to Augusta, they have obviously worked hard and deserved the win!

Okay, maybe it's going a little far calling SK an 8th region power so I'll go by the numbers.

SK: 1,704 students

AHS: 104 students

SK: No starter shorter than 6'4"

AHS: One starter over 6'1" and he's 6'3"

We played Owen County last year, they were and are very good. But at the same time I think SK will be in the discussion at the end of the season in the 8th. This game does not make the season for Augusta they have bigger and more important goals to achieve. What it does do is give a good team a shot of confidence that they needed to get back on the right track. It also shows that no matter how big you are or how small your opponent might be you better come to play every night.

shortest starter for SK is 6'2"
