Just an awesome game to be at even though CCH lost. High intensity ballgame. Very physical but not chippy. No technicals were called and very few fouls were called. If this was a 12th Region game then this game would have had 50 fouls called tonight. I see why out of region teams have a hard time playing games in the 12th Region.

Not much to say that hasn't already been said.

The CCH sophomores got better tonight because of this game. Ruthsatz contesting what likely would have been a Cumberland dunk impressed the hell out of me. He was called for an intentional foul for it but the fact he even tried to contest it earned a ton of respect from me.

Frederick played big tonight and AJ Mayer was great as well. As others have mentioned CCH is going to be really strong for at least another 2-3 years. I know Wilmington's JV was overly outmatched but the CCH JV team is super super good. Probably the best JV team I have ever seen. They play very well together and they all can score the ball. Their defense is suffocating and if you don't know the team well you'd think they had 10 starters. You could never tell when bench players were in. The CCH dynasty is here.

I LOVE Andy Flood and I need to thank @BlacknGold for turning me onto Flood. He kept me entertained all night like he always does. He goes hard every play.

CVH broke a kid's ankles tonight and I laughed hard. Really hard. The kid went down and then went down again trying not to go down. I think the whole gym laughed. Had CVH made the shot I think the place would have exploded and video of the play would have gone viral.

The Crazies were late arriving tonight but they didn't disappoint. Best student section in the state.

Jarron Cumberland was an unstoppable force tonight. He worked hard for all of his points. CCH defended him hard and as mentioned it took screen after screen to just get him the ball on some occasions. It's rare you see someone with that kind of size be as smooth as he is. His jumper is effortless and his moves to the basket evoked strength and grace at the same time. He put a move on Aiden to get by him and get to the goal and missed the layup but the move was still an eye opening move. We don't see many kids with his kind of size move like he does. He was a lot of fun to watch.

It was great to hang with Clizzers and MTGL and the crew tonight. Great great time. First class fellas right there and Baby J and I had a really good time. Looking forward to the next time!!!!

It's always funny the things you remember from games.

Frederick had a HUGE back tip on a rebound he wasn't in position to receive. Instead of giving up on the play even though he was out of position he was able to tip it to a teammate and keep the possession to CCH. I don't remember if they scored after the back tip but plays like that are winning plays and things like that go a long way towards success even though CCH lost tonight.

It was good to meet @B-Ball Fan tonight as well. I also appreciated the VIP treatment getting stat sheets at the half and after the game. I definitely appreciate that. I love seeing the stats!!!!!

I'm glad CCH made it a good game. More or less, a close game.

Great game and actually CCH should have had the ball for the last shot to win the game. I am not sure the exact time, but it was less than a minute left and the game tied and CCH turns it over on the inbounds pass. Attempted to throw in to Cole and the ball went off his hands and out of bounds.

Well worth the $6. What a great game, even though the Colonels lost in the end. I hope CCH fans truly appreciate what Coach Ruthsatz has brought to this program. Awesome atmosphere.

Spoke with Wilmington head football coach & wife throughout game (good people). They were complimentary of the CCH program/kids & appreciated that their team had a battle on their hands; hadn't been challenged much in their 7-0 start.

CCH JV team is worth going to see just themselves. Luke Lenihan's game is special. I would hate to be an opposing point guard in next couple years having to contend with the defensive pressure that Aiden, and soon, Lenihan can apply.

I'm having trouble thinking of another kid that's come into Park Hills and had a performance like that.

11/23 overall (5/13 in the first half) 5/8 from 3 and 9/10 from the line.

CCH actually did a solid job on him as far as contesting shots and making him work. AJ had him most of the night . Whomever had him ran into a TON of screens tonight.

CCH led by 3 with about a minute left. He hit a fade away 3 with a hand in his face right in front of the Wilmington bench. It was the most impressive shot of the night.

They are not a one-man team though. Their PG is really good and their team plays "long" as in steals and deflections. CCH had 16 TOs.

Perhaps someone with access to archival info can confirm this, but going on memory ( I was around 10 going on 11 at the time) and tidbits of info that I've found online, when Darrell "Dr. Dunkenstein" Griffith and Bobby Turner were juniors at Louisville Male in 1975, (the year they won the Sweet 16), Male came to Park Hills to play CovCath on Jan 18, 1975 when redheaded Ken "Sticks" Mueller was at the time the Colonel center I believe, and beat the Colonels 61-55 with Griffith scoring 31 points before the arrival of the 3 point shot.

I recall attending this game, and in my online search I came across a Cincinnati Enquire reference from a search that lead me to an archive page that would require me to have a subscription to read the article, however a bit of the info was revealed from my search without allowing me access to the entire article.

I can visualize where I was sitting (CovCath student section leaning on the far wall near then entrance side of gym in a packed house), and that Male were wearing purple uniforms. I can't picture Turner in my memory, but recall that Griffith was a smooth player that appeared stronger and older than most players his age.

Perhaps someone out there can give further details regarding this game.

My older CovCath grad ('72) brother recalls around 1970 a player for Mason County named Ronnie Lyons who went on to play for UK, lighting it up against the Colonels. Perhaps someone can also confirm some details of this.

As an '82 grad of CovCath I recall our student section inventing the newspaper in the face snub against Dickie Beal in the early 80's, but I don't recall if Beal had phenomenal numbers in that game.

Likewise. Glad you could make the trip to Colonel Country!

As I mentioned to you leaving the gym, the one that came to mind was Keith Jackson for Purcell Marian the year he was Cincinnati's Player of the Year. After doing 30 seconds of research I found out that the game I remembered, from 2000, he had 27 points, and after leading the Colonels by 1 at the half, PM ended up dominating the 2nd half to win by 13.

Keith was the 1st person that came to mind for me, too.
