I know you are doing your thing again, but sadly, I agree this time. That's the way it's lining up. Season ended when AD threw that ridiculous interception and doubled down by getting injured.

Come on FC you are smarter than that. They ran the ball 35 times and passed it 21. They were protecting him as they should. They used him perfectly. This script was the way they planned it and will next week unless AD is QB which is really really doubtful. Except they had to think they would run it better. The 49ers sold out on the run and AJ used the opportunities with his short field to make them pay. Story Defense, strategic passing and 4 turnovers.

 

They are going to win ugly with AJ at QB. I am not bashing the kid. I think he has a chance to be a really decent NFL QB. He is nowhere near ready. WE will have to beat the Broncos the same way.

You are smarter than that as well. It's not like we don't have proof that the Bengals try to be a running team when their skill guys are hurt. All you have to do is look at last year. When all the skill guys were hurt they decided to be a running team last year. Even if Dalton plays yesterday, with Eifert out and Green hurting they would have tried to run the ball more. Especially since they were up 24 to 0 in first half. Maybe instead of 36 runs it would have been 5 less run plays with Dalton. However even with Dalton I dont see them passing it much more and they proved that last year when they had injuries.

 

I disagree with you on McCarron too. I don't think they have to win ugly with McCarron. Yesterday with their game plan with guys being hurt, they went in thinking they could run the ball. So when the running game didn't work, it looked ugly. When they did pass the ball they looked fine when he had time. Now that is the biggest difference between the two is Dalton his the weakness in the line because he has a quicker release. McCarron is accurate but not as quick of release so he needs more time and that exposes our line for not being that good.

It might not be what ESPN expected when they slotted Denver and Cincy for the MNF game, but it's going to have huge playoff implications.

 

I have confidence in our team if healthy, excluding Dalton. They have shown that they are definitely beatable if our defense has a big game, maybe a few TO's.

 

I think ESPN is getting more than what they expected. This game has Huge implications, so I am not sure they could ask for much more. Shoot the Broncos if they lose this game may have to win the last week of the year to even make the playoffs. Not to mention this could be Manning's first game back. This is by far the best game Monday night football has had this year and probably will show in the ratings.

They have been on the money. Greg Cossell really liked his pocket presence and deep ball accuracy, the deep ball surprised him. He said even with the pared down offense, he was not getting past his primary read much. He said the Steelers blitzes did not bother him. The Steelers changing up right before the snap really confused him. He was indecisive at times Very normal for a guy in his first year. He also is not a run threat like AD.

 

He did like him though.

 

Basically, he will not win many games throwing it 30+ right now. This goes for Osweiler , also. He may, but not likely. If he can be in the 20-25 range, I really like our chances.

You know he is not far into his development how? You also formed your opinion on him before he even took a pre season snap. You say the pass to run with Dalton, well that was not true last year and why is that? Because of injuries to people like Eifert and Green going out in games. When they have top skill guys out they try to go run to pass even with AD and that was proven last year.

 

I will say I wish AD was still starting right now because he had been awesome this year and a different qb. With that said with McCarron from the pre season, to the Steelers game to this week he has shown he can make every pass. In fact he has shown he probably is a better deep ball thrower as well deep intermediate routes. Not to mention he looks very composed and its not to big for him. That's why when the Bengals have their skill guys healthy, I think we will see this team still be a great passing offense. With that said as I have mentioned one thing Dalton does better and does help the team well is his quick release and is accurate on short passes. His quick release hid alot of problems on the line for protection. So just because I think the offense will still do good with McCarron. I do also realize we need Dalton and his quick release to hide the line problems. So I do hope he is back hopefully for the Ravens game.

As for the primary read, you actually see him start to look at his second and third option when he doesn't throw it to the first read. However as soon as he starts going through his progressions that is when pressure is right on him. Daltons quick release definitely hid the lines poor protection.

So, I have never changed my opinion. Geez why do you always challenge everything people say? You are not the only one that has an opinion on the Bengals and you just might be wrong some. Rose colored glasses , by and large, gets in the way of what is really happening sometimes.

 

I listen to over 20 hours of experts a week, watch several shows that have experts that know a lot more than me to form my opinions. I also watch every game and attend all home games and at least one away game a year. I know very little other than what I see. I AM NOT an expert, but try and look at what I see and find out what the experts think.

 

My opinion on McCarron has always been reserved until he proved something. I really like what I see. I reserved my opinion on Hill last year and was very surprised with his last half of last year. I am perplexed with him this year, but he seems to be not getting to the hole quickly. Although yesterday there were no holes.

 

Players have to prove it over time before I buy in.

 

Have your opinion, but both Marvin and Hue said they were protecting AJ and will next week. They expect the vets to step it up. Marvin said we just want him to manage the game, hit his opportunities and don't turn the ball over. That is the formula for AJ to lead this team. I really like what I see from him, but as Bill Parcells says I ain't ready to crown him a Hall of Famer yet.
