December 15, 201510 yr So my old man is a pretty out of the box thinker and also has been critical of QB play in the NFL (1/4 are great, the other 3/4 average or worse). He proposed that if he ran an NFL team he would have 3 QBs and work a rotation like a baseball pitching staff. For examples he said start Vick one game, Schaub the next, and Cobb the third. Basically dual threat, pocket passer, wildcat. Obviously it wouldn't be those 3, you couldn't afford it. But I took his idea and think it can apply to a struggling team - draft a rookie who you think can eventually be a franchise player and rotate rookie, vet cheap pocket passer, vet cheap running QB. Thoughts? I mean, I know we will never see it happen but it makes you think.
December 15, 201510 yr May be able to get it to work for a game. However players in the NFL and coaches are to good. After film is shown on these guys. Coaches will be able to teach their players what to expect any time a certain guy is at qb. A team may go 1 and 15 doing this lol.
December 15, 201510 yr Buddy Ryan kind of did this with Jaworski and Randall Cunningham. Didn't work. QB's need to be in sync with receivers and the rest of the offense. Tough to do that when you're splitting reps between 3 guys in practice.
December 15, 201510 yr While you're at it, get 4 really good running backs and run a wishbone all season.

December 15, 201510 yr And 7 Tyler Eifert and Gronks to have mismatches all over the field. 4 JJ Watt's on the defensive line as well.
December 15, 201510 yr Sounds like the recipe for 0-16. This. There's a reason no one does this. The best minds in football have never tried this for good reason.
