A buddy of mine heard Belfry HS has had a pretty steep drop off in attendance very recently and has put in a request to the KHSAA to drop to 2A.

Belfry is losing a lot of families due to the economy and coal industry but they were not exactly the smallest 3A school.

 

Wouldn't be shocked to see Belfrys enrollment get to 2A size by next alignment but don't think it has already happened at this point. I also would seriously doubt Belfry submitted a request even if it had.

Your last sentence is what I would think but my buddy said it came from someone from Belfry and sounded pretty legit. Economy was the blame.

That would be crazy if that happened. At the same time that Belfry/Mayfield game could have some potential.

My understanding has always been that the only requests permitted to change division were requests to move UP in division.

That would be great from a football standpoint, especially if the call for the privates to move to their own class ever came to bear because MF would only have the Ads to play with. Bad for a community though. I hope things stabilize over there when the new President gets in office

I have always felt somewhat inadequate on a message board. I have a buddy and he hasn't ever heard a d thing worth repeating.
