I'd keep him because his contract is amazing, but now would be a good time to sell high on the potential before he strikeouts 250 times in a full season. He had a negative DWar last year.

December 16, 201510 yr To amplify on above post, I also don't understand the numbers Heyward attracted. Excellent defensive outfielder, but he doesn't hit many HRs and only drove in 60 last year despite hitting in middle of lineup for much of the season. Seriously, his offensive output won't be that difficult for Cards to replace. Replacing what else he brings to game will be more problematic. This move opens up right for Piscotty. As an aside, I wonder whether Heyward had an issue or two with Matheny. I believe that both he and Lackey did. Not sure why Heyward would.
