Congrats to BG players, coaches and fans! Holding Pulaski to 7 points really says something about that D. Not really surprising though, they were the favorite the whole year. How many state championships is that for the Purples?

Yeah it sounds like BG will be the 5A favorite for 2016 starting..... now officially. BG probably knew this beforehand though.

Yes. 2 of the scores was all speed. 1 TD that was called back was speed as well.

 

Speed is hard to beat at any level, especially High School. Not sure why some people don't understand that.

BG had speed but Pulaski got out coached. BG is worthy of there title. I expect a repeat unless they lose most of there line.

Two plays stuck out to me:

 

1 - The Fant punt return. I'd remarked several times before then to those I was with that even though Pulaski had been punting very short, that was actually better than letting Fant touch it. He's a monster in the return game. I am not exaggerating when I say that the moment I could tell that he had a returnable ball I audibly said "That was a mistake." And it was. It was technically the winning score.

 

2 - The drop by Jake Johnson on 3rd and Goal towards the end of the third quarter. Everything had aligned for that play. Fant was cramping, and so came out for the play, sending in a backup to cover Johnson. Hall rightly went right at him. Johnson got position, the throw was on line, he just dropped it in the cold. It would have been the game tying score at 14 all and then Pulaski doesn't feel forced to go from midfield in the fourth prior to Bowling Green's dagger TD. Instead, Pulaski attempted a FG that badly missed and they never again threatened to score.

BG always has speed.

I said all year long that this was the best secondary in the state. No doubt in my mind. One big surprise to me was Justin Robinson. Every time BG would try to match up Fant and Johnson, but the motion prevented that many times. And because of this, Justin Robinson was able to deflect the ball many times. I couldn't be more proud for this group. After last year, there were many people who doubted another Purples run, and I'm here to tell you that it's not over. And Clark Payne played great IMO. He was the better of the two QB's tonight. He was able to keep his eyes downfield, wait for an open receiver, and if he didn't have a target that could be hit, he scrambled to pick up yardage. Great performance with few to no mistakes for this young man!! Can't wait to see what next year brings! Go Purps!!RIP Mike, thanks for watching over us!!

I can't remember a Purples team that improved more over the course of one season, than this bunch. Coach Wallace and his staff did an amazing job this year, as always, but this may be his his best. With most of our skill players returning and a ton of young talent waiting in the wings, the future looks bright! It's a great day to be a Purple!

All came together for the Purps tonight after that first drive defensively. Great game. Congrats to both on quality seasons.

Pulaski's run will take a short hiatus. Don't get me wrong, they'll still be a nice team, but they'll have a couple of years coming up where they will be good but not great. Losing Riley Hall is a HUGE blow to the team. When you have that caliber of player along with the rest of those kids, it's gonna hurt.

 

Congrats to the Purples as well! I got to witness them in the mud bowl here last year and they are just what teams should strive to be.

I think Pulaski County will be back at State next year. Not having their starting running back hurt them, not saying they would've won, but he could've helped with his speed. Is he a Junior? Also Where did Pulaski County kicker sign at? The broadcast said he already signed, but never said with who.
