COLUMBUS – The Lancers roll deep yet again.

The La Salle football team captured its second straight Division II state title with a 42-0 win over Massillon Perry Friday night in front of 11,168 at Ohio Stadium.

The 22 seniors joined elite company in the La Salle football program as a group that will always be remembered for winning back-to-back state titles

La Salle routs Massillon Perry for state title

If a Mod could add "Perry" after Massillon in the Title please.

What a difference going down from D1 to D2 makes for the Lancers.

What did LaSalle do in the GCL this year?

Anyone know if Lasalle is officially headed back to D1?

Jeremy Larkin >>>> Ohio Mr Football Keishaun Sims (Perry)

Still wondering how Larkin didn't win that award. I'm sure he'll take two rings over that, though.

When was the last time a Cincinnati player won the Ohio Mr. Football title?

Only Top 72 enrollments are in D1. Least was 584 (in top 3 grades) in D1. La Salle was 522. And there were a lot of school bigger in D2 included Loveland and Walnut Hills.

Marc Edwards (Norwood to Notre Dame) in 1992.

Good info, somebody told me they were headed back after the 2 year mandatory stay, I wasn't so sure about it.

No. There is no mandatory stay. They stay in D2 as long as their enrollment dictates it. They CAN NOT move up.

Which, make no mistake, they would never want to do as evidenced by the last two years. I mean, imagine having to go through the GCL, Colerain, Wayne and potentially St. Ignatius or St. Edward from Cleveland, NOT TO MENTION the most powerful team from Columbus to win a state title in D1?

Before 2014, LaSalle had never one a single playoff game. Now, they are back-to-back champions?? Yeah, they'll stay in D2 thank you very much.

However, make no mistake, they take a significant step backwards next year. 22 seniors walk out the door and while they will have arguably the pre-season player of the year in Jarrell White back as a Senior, they just lose too much to compete. Wouldn't shock me to see a 5-5 season next year and then a potential return to mediocrity for the Lancers. They won't be able to sustain this level of success.

They certainly 'went through' Colerain in their regular season games the past two years. :lol2:
