The perseveration on all things Mason County - even including where banners from schools closed for decades might reside - by my friends (and they ARE my friends) to the immediate west always provides me with some amusement. Especially when it spills over into a totally unrelated thread.

I'm very sorry that you feel this way. To me, it's not embarrassing or uncalled for. The people of Robertson County have always been proud of their school system right or wrong. Unlike other systems they do not have the money to readily purchase new jerseys. Additionally, I find it appropriate to honor the past because it is what got you where you are now. Maybe they've decided to honor Deming, which is their predecessor. I would love to see other schools do it as well. Just to give you an example, I see the Maysville trophies at the Fieldhouse and one picture. Where's the banners they had? Have they honored the graduates/players from May's Lick, Washington, Orangeburg, and Minerva?

 

I live in downtown Mt. Olivet as does my family, everyone in Mt. Olivet seemed to take it the same way as I did which is why I said what I did. We just didn't see the purpose of wearing the Deming jerseys in a game at Augusta on opening night. In a home game then yes I along with you see why they would wear them, but in this situation I'm confused as to why they did it.

Plus everyone knows the financial problems that they've been facing so it makes it seem as if they can't afford new ones.

No need to take shots at RC. In case you forgot Mason can't pay their bills either *cough cough* Tim Moore, just another case of Mason feeling superior to Class A schools. I see no problem with them wearing Deming jerseys.

I'll always remember an old Ledger-Independent article on Mt. Olivet and its quaint small-town feel. Said something to the effect that it was considered a crime wave when somebody took two papers out of the machine when paying for one.
