Will Chicago turn into Ferguson after video released

In a perfect world you're 100% correct... Race shouldn't matter.

Unfortunately, in the real world... It does matter.

Well, until everything that happens, stops being blamed on racism, that will be the case.

I would love to see those in Chicago, protesting this killing, protesting about the black on black crime that is a plague in their city.

What makes you think they don't protest it? What makes you think they aren't trying to come up with the ways to stop it? What makes you think all the black people in Chicago just love seeing young black kids killing each other and do absolutely nothing about it?

UNFORTUNATELY, no one covers everything going on in Chicago that people are doing to try and curb black on black violence. It's disingenuous to make statements like yours about black on black violence when you have ZERO facts to back up your claims. Let me know when the media shows up at the neighborhood vigils for innocent black kids hit by stray gunfire or at the neighborhood meetings at local churches with the only agenda of TAKE BACK OUR NEIGHBORHOOD on the docket.

Why don't you do some research or better yet go to Chicago and do what you can to stop black on black violence instead of sitting on your computer and make super broad assumptions that you have no clue about.

The main reason for the protesting is because the CPD tried to cover this up. Do they try to cover up black on black crime? Or is it only when one of their own is involved?

There is a long history of a large % of the black community having serious trust issues with police... Not just in Chicago, but in America.

Agree, if it was a white cop killing a white kid it wouldn't be a national story... It would still be wrong and murder in most people's eyes...

But again, there is a long well-documented history of blacks being and/or feeling mistreated by cops and because of that... There is always going to be extra scrutiny when a black person is beaten, killed or whatever at the hands of police.

It's just common sense.

Saying race shouldn't matter is just "politically correct" banter.

As I said before, Unfortunately, race does matter when it comes to instances such as this.

Translation: We live in a completely equitable, colorblind society where racial prejudices would be a distant memory if only black people would only stop trying to persecute white people with their claims of bias.

Who exactly are the blacks in Chicago going to protest against in the name of black on black crime?

There's a big difference between crimes being committed by criminals than murder of blacks by those sworn to protect. That's clear, right?

ESPN's Bomani Jones Cuts Straight To The Heart Of The Laquan McDonald Killing

Bomani Jones talked a bit today about the black on black crime discussion that always pops up after these type of things come to light.

He went on to explain the phenomenon of people suddenly conjuring concern about black-on-black crime after police killings are publicized, including blacks who cling to respectability politics, before smacking down anyone who would attempt to explain this unjustifiable murder as anything but.

Here’s a particularly powerful passage from Jones ...

“It’s worth noting that people are really concerned with crime in those ways and the whole idea of keeping us safe don’t live anywhere near where the crime actually happened. And what they’ve found is that people’s belief in crime and being tough on it and stuff like that and empowering police, they are correlated to their opposition to civil rights. It has nothing to do with crime or how crime affects their lives. They don’t care about that. This is just another way to hammer black people.”

The whole video isn't that long and well worth a listen if you truly want a better understanding of the issues.

What makes you think they don't protest it? What makes you think they aren't trying to come up with the ways to stop it? What makes you think all the black people in Chicago just love seeing young black kids killing each other and do absolutely nothing about it?

I've done my research PP92.

A neighborhood vigil, while I applaud it, is not the type of protests we see from these incidents. Not even close. You and I both know that.

You aren't the only one that does research, seeks out news coverage from various sources and such.

How much time are you spending in Chicago, doing your part?

You slap that broad brush around fairly freely. Truth is, you are as clueless as you accuse me of being.

Add the mayor in on that. As I posted earlier, that you completely ignored, is that a $5 million dollar payout doesn't happen without his knowledge.

Are there ever city wide protests in Chicago regarding the violence and murders that don't involve police?

It's not hard to see that everyone takes the very few police involved shootings much more seriously than the rest of the murders in this country. The media, protestors, BGP...everyone.

Not politically correct banter for me. I live it every day.

Just because you're not a racist and I'm not one... It doesn't mean blacks should trust police. There's a really good chance that the white cop that did this isn't a "racist"... But he made a bad mistake and it was compounded that the kid he killed was black....

Again, a long history cannot be ignored... Long before Rodney King, the kid up in Cleveland, etc, etc...

It just can't be ignored. I am not black and I'm assuming you are not. If you're not, you have to admit that you and I have no real world experience to compare to the blacks that don't trust police. It's really that simple. We have no right to tell them how we think they should feel.

False. I lived in Chicago for a year. How long did you live there? I still have friends in Chicago that I speak with on occasion. How many black friends do you have currently living on the South Side of Chicago that you speak with? You have no idea how "clueless" I am. Just because you know my real name doesn't mean you know squat about me.

Obviously.
