We'll see if Baker has his 2-3 drops this week now that his guy is under center. I think the issues run much deeper than just Towles but I agree something needed to be done. Hopefully it works. This team needs to get to a bowl game this year.

I think these 2 are so similar that if you expect anything that much better than what Towles would give you, then I think you are fooling yourself. I don't think either could be successful in this system and with this group of supporting cast. The offensive line is shaky at best, the receivers have hands of stone and drop their heads at the first sign of trouble and boom never seems to be all there if you ask me. He'll have one big run a game, but seems like he doesn't even care the rest of the time. This team doesn't have a QB problem, this team has an attitude problem. Attitude reflects leadership.

Never good when the QB has to be replaced. Never fully on the QB and it's not 100% fair to Pat.

 

However, Pat has had the gig for two years. It's hard to say he hasn't had a chance for the staff to get a strong read on him. This isn't the case of a coach making a knee-jerk reaction with a QB who has had a "couple of bad games."

 

Will Drew be the guy? Who knows. I hope so. I think he can be but I don't have any crazy expectations for this year. Why should I? Drew has played what - 30 to 40 snaps?

 

I expect Drew to look like a very promising , young , inexperienced QB these next two games. He'll do some things really well as we saw on the first drive. He'll do some "what are you thinking" things like we saw on the 2nd drive.

 

People predicted when Drew committed that Pat wouldn't get his fair chance. Stoops showed otherwise.

 

Big boy football. You perform or someone else gets a shot especially at QB when you've got a nice option. Drew will face the same thing should be be the starter going forward.

 

D1 QB life. If that's not for you go to Thomas More and get a great education and play on a successful team. A very nice alternative.

My guess (key) is that Drew is going to have to COMPLETELY fall on his face for PT to see action. Stoops knows mistakes are coming but that will not be anything new. That's why he's in.

Not a shot. It's a different level with different pressures and different expectations if you are a QB.

 

As I said it's a great option for many. I love TMC football, what it stands for, and how it succeeds.

This team has a huge lack of effort in all phases of the game. Coming out of the locker room they act like they have lost the game before it even starts. Start taking away the "free rides" and see how they respond.

It's just time, nothing more, nothing less.

Since Drew was about a sophomore in high school I've mentioned how good Pat has been to him. They met at awards banquet and Pat offered to help him with any recruiting process help he needed. He then offered to work with him on the QB position. He was positive when Drew committed.
