Bluto Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 My beloved Hunger Games movie series comes to a conclusion this weekend. I can't wait! But afterwards I know I'll feel like I've lost a friend. If you decide to go, bring kleenex. And NO, it's not a chick flick. I cried at the end of Saving Private Ryan and also We Were Soldiers. When bad things happen in battle to people you care about, it affects you.
HammerTime Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 I do want to see how this all ends, but I will probably wait till it's out on video.
mcpapa Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Enjoyed the books for what they were - young adult fiction. Enjoyed them a lot. Only saw the first movie.
lawildcat Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I won't be running to the theater to see it but it's definitely on my list of movies to see! I need to see Part 1 first; thankfully it's on Amazon Prime!
Jumper_Dad Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I've went with wife and daughter to the others and I'll go to this one as well...they both know how it ends from reading the books, I'm interested to see how it will end. I think the end will be VERY VERY predictable but I'm still interested to see it play out.
Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I saw the movie last weekend. Wasn't bad at all. I know it would have been a bit much, but I wish they could have given the two-movie treatment to the first two books. I know the movies for the first two books both clocked in at over 2 hours running time, but I felt like they both had to really rush through a lot of their plot when they were translated for the big screen. The two part treatment of Mockingjay gave that book a much more thorough outcome on film. Way more satisfying to me that way. Also, apparently Lionsgate is looking into developing prequel movies for the series. "Hunger Games" Prequels: Lionsgate Wants More Movies | Variety
DragonFire Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 The movie was basically exactly as good as the book. I hated the book. Basically because of the ending.
Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 The movie was basically exactly as good as the book. I hated the book. Basically because of the ending. I thought the third book was easily the weakest of the three, but all said I was okay with the ending. Just out of curiosity, what would your preferred outcome have been?
DragonFire Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I thought the third book was easily the weakest of the three, but all said I was okay with the ending. Just out of curiosity, what would your preferred outcome have been? Beats me. I just know that one was terrible. I closed the book, looked at my wife, and said that was a waste of time.
All Tell Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Beats me. I just know that one was terrible. I closed the book, looked at my wife, and said that was a waste of time. I read somewhere that the author is bipolar. She was definitely on the down side when she penned the ending to Mockingjay.
MJAlltheWay24 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I enjoyed the final movie. Never read the books. May go back and do it at some point. Since it's been close to a month, can we talk spoilers now? Cause I am.... For people who didn't like the ending, was it because she ended up with Peeta, or what about the ending didn't you like.
Godot Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 For people who didn't like the ending, was it because she ended up with Peeta, or what about the ending didn't you like. It's been a few years since I read the books, but I thought more time had passed from the return to District 12 and the final scene.
Bluto Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 It's been a few years since I read the books, but I thought more time had passed from the return to District 12 and the final scene. You're right, it was supposed to be 10-15 years.
