You do know that when Lex Cath played and lost to those teams, it was early in the season where I thought and saw that JC is #1 and South Warren #2. I am sure they dropped off the ranking by now.

Great breakdown by ATLCAT. I think Lex Cath does create some challenges offensively.....I'm just not sure if its enough. Been saying all year it'll be a Central/Belfry Championship. Still don't see anyone jumping into the mix.

In that case JC was #1 when they played but neither Cooper or Ryle were either Top 5..in fact at that point in time I do not think Ryle was even ranked

Johnson Central is #2 in 4A technically. That "Out of the Earth" run game also struggled to gain 100 yards against fellow 3A Belfry in a 41-0 loss.

 

Difference was that JC was at 100% against LexCath, about 75% going into the Belfry game. After the first quarter, numerous players were swapped in and out to try to motivate the kids to do their jobs. One of those cases that it didn't work and they continued to struggle. I even told one of my coworkers, former Belfry Pirate John Young, my thoughts leading up to the game and that we would struggle mightily without Workman under center on offense and without him playing FS on defense. He is the guy that makes the cogs turn by calling out formations, blocking scheme adjustments and various defensive responsibilities based off the opposition's alignment. If anyone thought that JC would move the ball without him, and especially with a young man under center at QB that had never taken a varsity snap, then they are clueless. In my opinion the outcome would've been the same but the score would've been a little more respectful.

 

As for this game, I think LexCath has the athletes and speed to keep pace with Central. Good luck to the Knights. LC by 5.

Where did you find that source? Clunker? Southwestern was a running clock.

Absolutely correct, with all the talk about the Pulaski schools getting field turf over the summer, I forgot that they weren't able to get the turf.

This is one game I would love to see. I think it will be a close game, but if Central creates points off turnovers, it could be a 2-3 TD game. I will pick Central at home, they always seem to find a way to win in November.

 

Like ATLCat, I would rather see LexCath come out of that side of the bracket to potentially face Belfry in the championship if Belfry is fortunate to make it that far. The Pirates run game matches up better with LexCath I think than Central, but when the smoke clears I expect the Yellow Jackets will be there standing tall.
