November 13, 201510 yr I keep hearing this...... Following the commitment of Harry Giles III, I keep hearing about how coach K was the first coach to land top two recruits in the nation. Giles and Jayson Tatum. However, wasn't that Calipari with Davis and MKG? I realize that some rankings had Austin Rivers in that mix as well back in 2011, but if I can remember correctly those guys were the top two according to some rankings. I haven't checked the rankings and I know the rankings all change multiple times throughout the season. BUT, I've heard this over and over and over again from Duke fans like its never been done before and like it was an impossible thing to do? :sarcastic: How about having #1 and #2 picks in NBA draft from same school? :sssh: With that said, Giles and Tatum are both monsters and if Giles can come back strong again they will be a force next year. With that said though some sites are putting Josh Jackson, Thon Maker, Monk, and De'Aaron Fox up there with Tatum so the 1/2 thing will definitely be debatable according to whoever is doing rankings. Personally Giles and Tatum would be my 1-2, but can't go wrong with any of those six.

November 13, 201510 yr Those are ESPN recruiting rankings. Wall and Cousins were ranked 1-2 by Rivals in Cal's first year. I believe Jackson is #1 in Rivals this year.

Case closed. Who's saying that? You didn't even see me in the other thread. I just had the thought earlier and didn't really see an appropriate thread to post in. But seriously, I was just curious. Are we that soon to forget? I have just heard all the commentators, read all of the websites and they are blowing it up likes it's never been done before. All I'm saying is this isn't the first time it's ever happened. Just curious, because I thought MKG and Davis did it and another poster mentioned Wall and Cousins. Also this wasn't a shot at Duke, obviously I give K credit as being the best to ever do it. Going to the one and done model and winning a championship made them a bigger force than they already was. Coaching team USA to likely three straight golds after mediocre performance before he was coach also goes a long way. No way around it K is one of the best to do it and Duke is on fire right now. Obviously I have nothing against Duke players if I think Giles/Tatum was 1-2, they were actually guys I wanted to land at UK the most. As far as ranking them goes I know I'm not a recruiting expert, but this potentially is one of the best recruiting classes of all time, so many top level guys in one class. Guys that are in the 20s this year in the major rankings could be Top 10-15 guys in other years. I just thought it would be fun to toss around who others thought were the best. Or players they really like in this class?

The guys that do see them play dozens of times and the ones who know basketball. I have just always liked basketball recurring. Even back in the Tubby days when I was reading about Crawford, Rondo, Morris and that class. I went to 2007 All-American game in Louisville basically because it was such a loaded class and so many players I liked. Rose, Griffin, Harden, Love, Beasley, Mayo, Patterson, Johnny Flynn (who was my favorite, great player who just never made it in the league). So what I'm saying is I just like keeping up with recruiting. Just interested to see which players you guys liked because I feel it is another 07' type of class that can really have some impact players.

November 14, 201510 yr I have heard that Jackson's mom is wacko. In general the class is LOADED! Cats may just go full tilt on Monk and call it a day for they recruiting year.
