What do you BGPers put up every year?

Real

Growing up it was always real. We would go out and cut one down ourselves. No store bought one.

 

Now it is a fake one that is pre-lit.

With the kids gone we went to a pre lit fake tree last year. Spent the bucks to get a really nice one that should last many years. Not the same and I certainly miss going out and cutting a live one with the kids but we have to bow to Father Time.

Well this certainly isn't what I was hoping...

Fake 100% of the time. We had big cathedral ceilings as youngster and my dad would cut down a monster tree and put it in the living room. Man was that a pain. Some of the years we had ones with the root ball so we could plant it after. Those were even more of a pain.

When shopping for a real tree, my old man loved bargaining as much as an Arab trader, and he was twice as shrewd.

Did the real thing first few years of marriage. Wife would get sick each year right at Christmas with a dead/dying tree inside. No problems with pre-lit fake.

Real.....make a big to-do with all the extended family to cut/dig them....usually in the Hoosier state. Do not buy from lots.

Like others, real when growing up, fake now. As a matter of fact, it's one of those "skinny" trees. We have a small house.

I started this thread because I mentioned to a co-worker that I may go out and get a fake pre-lit tree this year for my house. He was floored that I wasn't going to cut down a real one.

 

As I told him, if by some miracle I ever get married and have kids, I may go the real route. But for now, he's lucky I'm even going to put one up.

When I have my own kids one day, I hope to be able to go back to a real tree that we cut down ourselves.

Not sure that I would if it wasn't for the lady. But I will admit, once we have it up, I do enjoy it.

Every year as I'm complaining] about getting the tree in the stand and getting it lined up properly I SWEAR I'm getting a fake one next year. Then I get it up and it looks and smells so damn nice that I always get a real one.

 

Going to hardwood floors in the room also made the cleanup easier.

 

I NEVER cut my own though.

Not sure that I would if it wasn't for the lady. But I will admit, once we have it up, I do enjoy it.

 

I'm planning on putting one up in case I have people over. It will be about the only decoration of any sort I have in my house. I haven't invested in pictures or anything for the walls yet.
