This is an interesting matchup. Greenwood coming in off a 38-6 whipping of Graves County, who took OHS to the wire (20-19 loss) just 3 weeks ago. The Gators also played Bowling Green tough (14-14 halftime score), and have only lost one other game to the #1 team in 4A South Warren.

The Gators really love the quick hitter to the full back #29 Xezayier Snorton. They also like the quick pitchout to #6 Noah Pillow, who has some good speed. Every now and then the Gators will give an option look and QB #16 Jackson Adams is a good athlete as well. Those are the Gators big 3 on offense. Typically, most every play is going to go through one of those kids. Every once in a while Malcom Johnson will see some carries. Defensively, Greenwood is pretty stout. They play a 4 man front and like to bring an extra linebacker and bring pressure from the outside. Their two big playmakers on defense are #40 Stone Bettersworth and #26 Malcom Johnson.

OHS meanwhile can hurt you in a variety of ways. The Devils do love to turn around and hand the ball off to Landon Board and TJ James, but can throw when needed. OHS has many play makers but maybe none more dynamic than Jahlil Barrett. Barrett can hurt you on offense by running or catching, the kick and punt returns, and has intercepted a few passes this year as well. Defensively, there may be nobody playing better than OHS LB Tavian Board. This kid is a 6'2' 230 monster who is playing the best football of his high school career.

I do expect a good game. From what I can see on Hudl, Greenwood is very disciplined, athletic, and very well coached. Anything that OHS gets, I think the Devils will have to earn. If OHS doesn't come to this game in the right frame of mind, Greenwood is more than capable of pulling the upset. I think any chance of OHS overlooking the Gators was lost when Greenwood dropped that beat down on Graves last week. I have total confidence that coach Fallin and his staff will have the full attention of his team on Friday. I think it'll be close for a while, then OHS pulls away late.

Owensboro, multiple TD's.

Greenwood - GREAT Season! No bad losses. Well Coached.

Against Graves County, I'm told they GW dictated the LOS. I don't think they can do that against Owensboro. But I've been wrong before.

I'll look for a more close affair.

28-20 Boro

I've watched Greenwood on MaxPreps and the offense is really similar to the triple-option OHS used last year. Assignment football!!! Greenwood has run up good rushing numbers...very good...very, very good...OHS is stout against the run, but hasn't really faced a heavy run team except Henderson and maybe Graves, but that was typically with a tailback you knew was getting the ball. The Greenwood QB is sneaky, reminds me of Locher last year - at least running the ball. Looks like he makes excellent decisions. OHS will have to be ready to tackle 3 people each play. The good thing going for OHS is the size of the interior lineman...Greer, Tinsley and the other backup strong side end. Greenwoods offense you need to get quick blocks not necessarily hold someone up for 5 seconds and it can be very effective.

Crowe, the weak side DE is VERY fast and I think he'll be a challenge to block, as well as the 2 OLB's in Tinsley and Mundy. Greenwood's offense relies on not blocking someone and having the QB read the option. If that unblocked person is Mundy/Crowe or Tinsley it's going to be a long night for Greenwood. I think OHS should be able to get penetration with the line and that leave the MLB's Board and Bartimus to make some plays. Board is an absolute terror, as is Mundy. It will be the first time they've seen this type of offense this year though. I think the stout OHS defense will make some huge plays, and I also think Gwood will have some good yardage. But in that offense you have to sustain drives and if OHS can create some 2 and 10's and 3rd and longs it's going to spell trouble for Gwood. OHS looks to have quite a size advantage on the lines and I think OHS has the huge speed advantage all over the field. In the end, Gwood may be able to run some clock, but OHS has too many weapons and too good a defense if they come ready to play.

OHS 35-7

Only problem with the triple option is if you play a defense that contains, makes the correct read on the TE/FB and has speedy/good tackling backs who stay at home, you get shutdown. I think Owensboro has these things and show to be very disciplined on defense. Never know though, that's why we play the game.

The DB's are Barrett Walker James, Bartimus, and a couple other good backups. Very fast and great opn field tacklers.

Get this: Gators QB is a sophomore. He already has broken the alltime rushing record at Greenwood. That is quite an accomolishment. Congrats young man

BUT.

Gators offense is literally 95% run. Devils will load the box, stay disciplined and it will probably be lights out for Gators, my opinion.

I feel like this will be a game I'd want to watch. Pound the los every play, physical and hard played game. I do think it'll be close until midway of the third; then Owensboro will have their way.

Owensboro: 42

Greenwood: 21

This will be a game for the first half. Owensboro will break it open in the second half just like the Purples did. I'll say 49-14 Red Devils.

I don't think Owensboro is playing as well as Bowling Green on offense at this time going to be a lot closer score that you would think might even be an upset

Spin, what do you think about the line of scrimmage? I mean GW obviously runs the ball. Do you think their mis-direction will cause O problems or can they dictate some things with their OLine. Curious on your take as I haven't seen GW play this year.

Greenwood is a lot better this year up front blocking .schemes much improved and they come off the ball better .backs are also hitting the hole quicker they have improved over the year also .Owensboro better came to play or this could be a huge upset

Greenwood QB keeps it a ton:

On the year:

Adams the QB 182 carries 1518 yds and 23 TD's

Pillow the RB 76 carries 754 yds and 9 TD's

Snorton the FB 80 carries 478 yds and 4 TD's

I looked at Bigger games on their schedule and the QB likes to take most of the carries:

against BG:

Adams 34 carries 177 yds and 2 TD's

Others 20 carries 58 yds 0 TD's

against Franklin Simpson

Adams 27 carries 274 yds and 3 TD's

Others 18 carries 99 yds and 2 TD's

against Warren Central:

Adams 22 carries 80 yds and 1 TD

Others 26 carries 240 yds and 1 TD

against South Warren:

Adams 10 carries 71 yds and 1 TD

Others 12 carris 22 yds 0 TD's

against Graves:

Adams 10 carries for 47 yds

Snorton 25 carries 174 yds and 1 TD

Pillow 14 carries 127 yds and 3 TD's
