Agreed. I've seen it more than once where a team tries to install a whole new set and it doesn't work out well. Greenwood definitely is facing a challenge here, but taking to an all-out aerial assault is probably not the answer. Mix in a few more for sure, that would be good to keep them on their toes. Even if it is a short pass, make them think some.

First time in Owensboro Red Devil history that i have heard them referred to as slow. If there is a South Warren lineman that can run down Mr Jalil Barrett, Kishawn Walker, TJ James or Landon Board, im going to need to see it to believe it. AND if that is true, said lineman will be playing a very high level D1 somewhere. If OHS starts fast, this game will be out of hand. MAYBE Greenwood can hang in for a quarter or two but i just dont see it.

One play sticks in my mind. 1967. Rash Stadium. BG v. OHS. OHS is undefeated and maybe unscored on.

 

We (BG) have them backed up on their two yard line. The ball is snapped and I hear this WHOOSH. Look around and watch Ike Brown's number rapidly getting smaller as he completes his 98 yd TD run.

 

Oh.....and he blew right past All-State LB Gayle Goins without even saying HI.

 

Yeah.....Owensboro Senior is slow.

Daddydownsouth, I don't mean to pile on but you do realize you just said that SW has linemen that can outrun two of the top rushers in 5A in Landon Board and TJ James? You add in Kishawn Walker (ESPN Sportscenter Top 10 play last year) Jahlil Barrett, and Tavian Bord and I'm not sure what you're looking at.

 

I'm glad you're posting on here because I love to have as many folks discussing high schools sports as possible. However, if you want to maintain credibility in your posts, you can't make statements like that. If you don't care, then by all means, carry on.

 

Go to Google and search "Owensboro Hudl" and check out the highlights. Its actually a great resource to check out other teams as well. Not trying to pile on man, just trying to help.

I do not have a dog in this fight but I have seen OHS up close and personal and to say they are slow.... that is just laughable! :sssh::ohbrother:

Brown, just think how much faster OHS would've been had Rates Lewis been cleared to play for OHS and Shamari Morton had not transferred to Catholic. Also, keep in mind that freshman Chandler Crite opted to go from OMS to Daviess County for high school. I'm not sure Crite would've seen the field at the varsity level at OHS this year, but in the future, he's going to be a difference maker.

 

The crazy thing here is the fastest kid in the Owensboro system right now may be 8th grader Imonte Owsley. I honestly think the kid could return kicks for the varsity level right now. If that kid continues to work hard and do all the little things to elevate himself and his team mates, he could be a major college prospect.

I agree Purple Nation. I think Greenwood could potentially be 95% running for the OHS game, but if the Gators don't mix it up a little I think they'll be in for a long night. I do think Greenwood needs to come out and stick to what they do for as long as they can. Maybe I'm wrong, and the Gators won't need to throw the ball at all. I just think at some point Gwood will have to throw it, but when they do they need to be selective. It's a fine line that the Gwood coaches will have to decide in. I think at most Greenwood shouldn't be any less than 85% on the run. It's just hard for me to see a team beating OHS strictly with the run.

No I didn't say that . I said SW has linemen that can out run SOME of OHS skilled players. Never said a word about out running any of your top 3 or 4 speedsters. Get your facts straight. OHS fans got all worked up . They have nothing to worry about this year. SW is still in 4A

I did check out some SW hudl and I will admit, Lacey and Wilde are some nice looking DT's. I'm not sure if these are the guys you're talking about. Very very impressive. They aren't outrunning ANY OHS skill guy, but I'd take two DT's like that on my team any day.

D58, that's insane the talent and speed. We who around Oboro know how fast Morton and Lewis are. And we know how to compare our team to previous OHS teams, who are never lacking in speed. To me, this is the fastest TEAM speed we've had in a long while.

 

What about the Freshman Green who went in for a TD the other night is he pretty fast too?
