Nothing more frustrating than being told to prove that racist acts or racism is taking place. Makes me glad I have toughened up.

In light of the Rolling Stone fiasco, the "seriousness of the claim" needs to take a back seat to some evidence. I'm not saying that such claims should be dismissed, but they need to be looked into before dragging someone through the mud.

I think he meant if a female is physically assaulted (i.e. raped) the reaction would be different.

I think there were evil white people there terrorizing black students on the campus. Is there proof they are card carrying members of the KKK? Nope. I would think that members of the KKK act like the evil white people who were terrorizing the campus last night.

Can't help but think a lot of people's reactions in here would be different had these "minor incidents" been sexual harassment towards females student instead of racial in nature.

Depends on the harassing. If a couple of idiot guys said something totally inappropriate to females, not going to make big news on a campus of thousands (I am sure that happens every day on every campus). If a couple idiots physically assaulted some females, totally different story. That is what surprises me on this. Every black person on that campus ALREADY KNOWS there are some racist people on the campus. There are racist idiots on EVERY college campus in the US (and everywhere else). That is why the reaction seems so over the top to me. So there are a few racist idiots on the Mizzou campus...call me shocked...

I am late into this thread, and I haven't the time to read all the posts yet. Going back to the article that describes the chronology of events. Why did the rehearsing singing group ask the "young man" to leave what sounds to be a public place. His response (if he indeed uttered a racist remark) is unacceptable, but on what basis was he asked to leave?

 

What would have been an "acceptable" response from the President of the university?

 

Sounds like a good old-fashioned lynching otherwise, but maybe I have missed some pertinent details.

So let me get this straight, the student body president put out a false statement using sources who he admitted lied to him. He caused mass hysteria on campus and there are some in this thread who believe the original lie when the person who told it admitted it was a lie. The campus police confirmed it was a lie. There have been no instances on campus and one person arrested for idiotic racist and violent messages online.

 

Then a proffesor is forced to resign because he was holding an exam because the University did not cancel classes.

Now reading further into twitter time lines. Part of the "KKK" rumor started with a few students saying they heard "Danny Dixie" was there leader of North Carolina KKK.

 

The problem is who they referring to was "Daddy Dixie" the guy leading the Dixie College Football bus tour for Barstoolsports.Com. His real name is Caleb Presley former UNC backup QB and has been on ESPN this year about his protest against the NCAA making money off the likeness of players. Also a part of the Barstool Dixie bus tour is Ben Councel former Notre Dame Tight end and known on the tour as Bus Boy Benny.

 

Some how rumors started they were the KKK when in reality it was early 20 somethings former college football players doing a tour of Southern campuses.

Professor refuses to cancel exam.

Professor catches hell.

Professor resigns.
