Stats don't make a player but if so Rex has put up close to same stats and without nearly the same supporting cast .Rex 6-2 ,190 bigger faster stronger

Bernil Cecil of E'town averages a hearty 16 yards per carry.

Fern Creek is in leaders in most categories for 5A, and defensively the rank in a few in the overall. Some of the stats are skewed by people not reporting complete stats.

Some teams only turned in rushing yards allowed and passing yards allowed for 1 or 2 of their games so that shows up In the leaders. South Laurel for instance according to the stat reports despite being 2-8 and giving up a total of 383 points, they have only allowed 65 yards passing and 296 rushing, per the stats they are giving up more points than yardage. :sssh:

I do Fern Creek's stats myself, and enter our stats into KHSAA every week as well. After the games I email our coaches and Jason Frakes a game report of 10-14 pages, and every week I also email them the season to date totals report that is about 24 pages, the software makes me look good.

2A is incorrect. LCA is not listed at all and they had the rushing and receiving leader as of last weeks report.

Against NOBODY sorry Ray is a good athlete but be real I can show you dozen QBs that are better starting with one right behind him in 2a

 

Ray looked pretty darn good vs OHS earlier this year and IMO, they have one of the best defensive units in the state.

They do play same people that's my point weak competition neither are worthy of POY they are several others more deserving that play tough schedules that are better but don't put up Techno numbers I will say both are great players they just shouldn't be in POY talks

Tackles are a very inconsistently recorded stat. Having had some very direct interest in those stats over the years and doing a deep dive on them again this year for the power ratings you find them a) not kept at all at some schools who do report the offensive stats, b) a few just report total tackles and c) some teams seem to hand out assisted tackles a lot.

 

You have to applaud the teams that try to do it and do it right. But its not consistent and sometimes the stats are heavily padded in the 'assisted' category.

 

Yeah that makes sense. I know when I played the Kentucky/Cincinnati Enquirer would publish the stats in the newspaper each Thursday or Friday and it would have the top 30 or so list of NKY tacklers. I guess they don't do it anymore because it might be a lost of interest. Being a defensive guy the only stat I see anymore that teams record are interceptions and fumble recoveries.

You could say that about a lot of kids on that list.

Class 3A, Jackson County running back Myles Hurst only kid in the state to rush for over 2000 yards this season on a team that went 2-8 during the regular season. This kid is good and has great combo of speed and power........just a junior too
