Each race is different, every candidate different. Westerfield tried to Obama-ize Beshear and Beshear is doing much better than Conway. So are you saying Obama cost Conway but not Beshear and Grimes? Both Grimes and Beshear had some positive ads.

Comparing the three races, it is readily apparent that Conway performed the worst. Either Bevins was that much better (extremely unlikely) or that Conway was lacking in a way the other two weren't. It can't be Obama, cause Obama was the same Obama for all three races.

McConnell also has the advantage he lives in state where a large chunk of people are voting for him regardless of what add he runs. Like a Democrat in San Francisco.

 

So to win a high profile seat in the Bluegrass a Democrat needs to run a very good campaign. Beshear is the example of this , he found away to stay true to a lot of his core without making conservatives angry.

 

Conway against Rand Paul and now Matt Bevin has run two of the worst campaigns in my lifetime.

Bevin outworked Conway. Plain and simple. Conway needed the cities, they didn't deliver, and ignored downstate. Lost the plain folk.

Conway also needed the traditionally Democratic eastern Kentucky counties and he didn't win them. I mean, as I mentioned in another thread, Breathitt County is 92% registered Democratic but Conway lost in that county. He didn't run worth a darn in the mountain counties, or the rest of the state for the matter..

Please bring up the race card. Which stage was more diverse last night? Can you name 1 person of color who was on the Dems stage last night? As I said in another thread Al Cross, hardly a conservative stalwart, called the former State Dem Chairman out on it on KET last night.
