Here you go... I only looked up playoff QB's for the Bengals... I left off Palmer's injury year when the team went 4-11-1 too, couldn't remember how many games he won of those 4...

Anyway:

Virgil Carter : 12-10 (55%)

Ken Anderson : 91-81 (53%)

Boomer Esiason: 62-61 (50.4%)

Carson Palmer: 48-48 (50%)

Andy Dalton : 47-23-1 (66%)

 

Also... Anderson's Super Bowl season was his 11th and Esiason's was his 5th...

 

And I could be off on Palmer but he's in the 50-55% range for sure.

History lesson time:

 

December 13, 1981 at Pittsburgh Steelers W 17–10

September 18, 1988 at Pittsburgh Steelers W 17–12

 

Bengals go to Super Bowls in 1982 and 1989 after having close low scoring wins in Pittsburgh.

Hue Jackson was horrible in his play calling and Marvin once again was horrible in preparing the team coming out if a bye.

We were very lucky to win period.

 

I have to concur. He's awful. We've won despite him thus far. I'll take any kind of win in that venue though.

His second pick was basically a punt and actually turned out better than a punt..

His first pick was bad, and all 3 of Ben's picks were bad.

 

This "bad Andy" junk cracks me up... If bad Andy gets the Bengals to the playoffs every year, I'll take him.

First playoff loss: rookie filled team on the road

Second playoff loss: again on the road, second year quarterback and key defensive injuries

Third playoff loss: at home, should've won... Andy didn't play great, nor did the defense. Also, Gio fumbled a for sure TD and AJ Green dropped a for sure TD down the sideline..

Last season playoff loss: again on the road, green out, Eiffert out, jones out, etc.

 

I'm not delusional at all.. If Dalton has a healthy team in the playoffs this year, they should win... Even if they don't, it's not all gonna be on him.

 

With the pressure he was under today, I thought he looked quite composed. Kept his team calm and in it.. And they won it.

 

Why do you care anyway? You're a Steeler fan. Frankly, this was a must win for Pitt... The division is out of their reach now. You should be hoping they can get a wildcard at this point.

 

So, to recap... I don't think Dalton is mistake free or anything, but he's a good QB and he has a chance to be the best in Bengals history before his career is over... It's early, we will all know in a few more years...

Drives me crazy how he's never part of the reason the Bengals win, but always the reason they lose... Tired of it and so is anyone else who understands the team concept.

 

 

I agree. Andy certainly wasn't at his best today but credit a good effort by the Steelers D. Even though he didn't play extremely well, it was a different Andy. He didn't seem to get shaken and all out of sorts like in the past. Threw a pick and then came back and led his team to a winning TD. I think he's becoming a pretty nice leader. (Can't believe I just said that).

Too bad this is a short week, never enough time to savor a win over the Steelers.

 

Hate the news on Bell, he's the best in the game and I love to watch him when he's not playing the Bengals.

Only thing it probably triggers is that they won't cut him at the end of the year like many hoped after his second year of this five year deal when he signed it.

Make no mistake about it, if Dalton's play continues (and most likely even if it drops off some), he's getting paid in the offseason.

I remembered the contract was heavily in favor of the club being able to get out of it early, I just can't remember when any guarantees kick in or even if there are any.

They can get out of it after this year. Dalton is going to force a bigger, more lucrative deal in the offseason IMO.

I think the contract had a lot of money on the back side of it so if he sticks in the team the next few years is when he gets the bulk of it.

I don't see that happening. Dalton isn't going to hold out. If he does he hurts himself.
