What is the difference between out of district athletes coming to HHS to play football because of success in that sport and out of district athletes coming to HC to play basketball? Why is one ethical and the other not? I don't see why you are so upset over this?

the last 3 regional champions have been NDA, NCC and HC, it isn't like HC isn't winning every year. How can you not see how all this is happening, I could see if a girl or 2 is coming in but coaches of an AAU team that coaches players REALLY, in the last few years look at the transfers he has had come in and the kids coming that never considered HC not that HC is a bad school. I am sure if your a HC support your happy but be careful what you wish for because if you have a daughter that has had her mind/heart to go to HC and play basketball but is replaced by someone who was never going there, I'm sure it wont sit well and you can say all you want about the one coming in being better but you will never know because your daughter wont get that opportunity. Its kind of like a scholarship player getting more playing time then someone who got a lesser scholarship and the lesser scholarship player was better. Think about what is going on over there.

Amazing how clueless some people are in this thread! Wow!! RCC9 is dead on.. This is not an 8th grade girl basketball issue. It is about a parent who has serious issues imo!!

I'll go back to my HHS football analogy. Those kids coming in from out of district to play football are taking PT away from those raised in Ft. Thomas. Ethically, I don't see a difference.

Why do kids come to HHS? Long tradition? Proven winners over time? What do you think of as a football hotbed in NKy? Plus the top education in the state. Do you think the kids going to Highlands for football are being asked to go there or are going there on their own?? There is a huge difference! I'm not sure why you all aren't picking up what I'm laying down!!! It's not unethical for a kid to choose HHS or HC. That's not what this is about!!!! But if HHS was "asking" those kids to come to HHS, it would be unethical, right? And if they were asking those kids (from other districts) in the 7th and 8th grade to go to HHS, it would be unethical, correct? If HHS coaches came to your district and asked kids to come to their school when they are freshman to play football, what an uproar we'd have on here right??? Would it be unethical if the HHS coaches asked the kids in your distinct to come work out with them in the summer and represent hhs in HS summer events?? Well now you know why I'm not just an old man with nothing to do!

 

And if I'm not mistaken, one of your pioneers may be on that list. Haven't confirmed that yet, but did hear it from a pretty reliable source. But that person wasn't 100% sure if they were actually gonna leave or not.

Yes, KHSAA/AAU is very lax. What else can they be? Opportunities in the past have been squandered or swept under the rug, but now it may be too late for the KHSAA to find a way to shove the cat back into the bag. Perhaps the greatest compromising factor is the FACT that when the public schools cry foul at the private schools - with good reason - and then they hypocritically overlook the FACT that a good number of them are doing the same thing amongst themselves. It is all filthy and corrupted, IMO. As I have stated in other posts on other threads, it may be time, and it pains me greatly to state this, to open it up completely in order to eliminate the hypocrisy.

Honestly, that's where I am too. But now you do have some trying to interpret and follow the rules correctly and many that stretch the intentions of the rules. I'm fine either way. Open it all up or be more strict on the intention of the rules. I support a school that would be very successful if you opened it up because of the education situation. So that wouldn't bother me at all. But it would send other schools in our area in a tail spin in my opinion. But I understand what you're saying.

I think everyone has had a chance to make their points.

 

Moving forward, these type of discussions need to downshift a gear.
