Facts? Are you sure the one has "more real friends" at HC. More than she went to school with for 9 years??? Social media may show something different. So I wouldn't say that is even close to fact.

 

 

And yes, right now there are only two from that aau team. But let's see what happens going forward. And don't tell me it wasn't planned and they just happen to show up there when it happens.

So it sounds like HC hired a coach to bring in kids, possibly from an AAU team to me. Shady-yes, but I certainly have heard this happening at the collegiate level. The funny thing is at that level it is really the coach that is being used to bring in the talent, and then when the talent pool dries up, the coach is gone. I have no idea if that is the case or not, but I am trying to add everything up.

I keep hearing people say it's nothing new. I agree. But it's shady and unethical. So because it's happened before, we are now numb to it and should give every school a pass going forward that chooses to use shady and unethical tactics to build HS programs??? We should be teaching our kids that's how it works? If you can't succeed, remove obstacles and go somewhere else and sacrifice all the other great traits of high school sports for the benefit of a few so they can be put on a pedalstool? When you do this, do you really feel good about winning??? High school sports is the place you go to battle with you buddies, live with the results along way and create lasting memories. If I played on a team that was assembled (just addressing this post, no team in particular), I'm not sure how much I would relish that down the road. Yes, it may be fun at the time. But talking about it down the road would not have as much luster because everyone knew how that championship was achieved. Any team can go out and create titles. But is it ethical? And should we just sweep things under the rug now because others do it too??? What have we become???

A friend?? Social media is where ALL kids communicate today. Yes, your good friends contact you on social media constantly. Same with her and the majority are from her old school. Please explain first how a kid that's been at HC for two days has more real friends than at a school that's she's gone to for 9 years? Then, if you are able to explain that, then tell me why and how that could even happen.

I have no problem with the kid involved. I hope they made the right decision. Kid is great. I don't agree with the adults. We can say the kid made the decision. Really? Kids make decisions based on what adults tell them. And I am not talking about just parents, so don't think I'm bashing the parents. Because parents get told things by other adults that make the decision look very attractive.

 

And at the end of the day, my issue isn't about this one kid that just transferred. She just happens to be involved with what's going on. And my issue isn't with the school HC or any of the other sports. I like HC! I don't agree with what's going on with the Bball program...regardless if others do it too! I don't think it's right and it destroys what HS sports are about!

The very school you support has benefitted in football. If it happens as 8th graders and freshman and legal then I say good for the parents if they think the move is best for their children.

Why isn't ND loaded with young talent from their run just a couple years ago? Nothing you described is illegal. As someone who played basketball in the 9th what you describe is pretty common since the dawn of AAU. Friends want to play with each other.

 

You can go up down most rosters on both the boys and girls side . Whether they switched school 5th , 8th, or Freshman year . Who you play with growing up influences you.

I'll leave you with this. You're right that parents can choose to send their kids wherever they want. And you're right that some aau kids can choose to play with their aau buddies. If that's all that's happening here, why would I be upset?? To your point, it happens all over the place and I'm not on those schools am I? Hmmm

 

Let's take those other situations you talk about...if 12 of those kids parents and teammates got together and said we want to play together at X school, I'd be okay with it. It's how it worked out. However, if that school approached the aau team and d said why don't you bring your aau team to X and play for us, then I have a problem. And school X was also out asking others to come play for them and asking kids from other enrolled schools to come play with and represent their school in the HS summer events while they are still at the other school, then yes that is unethical and shady and should not be swept under the rug.

Everyone knows what is going on over there, HC coaches is going and trying to get the best players available or for that matter AAU teams. This has nothing to do with them winning state he has been known to do it. He did it with Turner and if you say he didn't then you are living in a dream world. The new coach had her son at a few different schools over the summer and low and behold they chose HC after being in the Ft. Thomas school system since day one. Coincidence I think not this was a planned deal from the beginning.

Call it hysterical or whatever you feel. I don't care. If you want to turn your head to it, that's your choice. Or divert it to me "just being on a mission to get poor lil HC", then have at it!
