Restructuring the SEC

Featured Replies

I'm sure something similar to this has been posted before, but I sort of would like to revisit this. I think the SEC would be better served dividing up North and South instead of East and West. Keeping the traditional rivalry games like Bama and Auburn and Ole Miss and Mississippi St. It would look something like this.

North:

Missouri

Kentucky

Tennessee

Arkansas

Alabama

Ole Miss

Georgia

South:

LSU

Florida

SC

Miss St.

Auburn

A&M

Vandy

I think East/West works better than North/South.

Move Auburn to the East and Missouri to the West and it would make more sense, IMO.

This.

No issues with the current system. Play ball!

I just don't like Bama and LSU being in the same division. The past 10 years these 2 teams have been the most consistent. I think these 2 teams should have the opportunity to play each other for the championship. Instead we get Bama and Missouri it feels like every year. Florida is back so that helps the East, but one good team in the east vs. the Bamas and LSUs of the world. It just doesn't seem right to me. Would anyone be opposed to no divisions within the conferences and instead just have the 2 best teams play for the championship. That's what I would like to see nationwide. Same problem in almost every conference. The three best teams all play in the same division in the B1G too.

True. But I think basketball divisions are less pronounced because despite the divisions, everyone plays everyone.

Auburn for Missouri, boot Vandy, add North Carolina State to the SEC.

This will never happen but I'd enjoy it.

Alphabetize.

Do we really need divisions? What purpose do they serve? Why can't they take the 2 best teams and put them in a championship game. That makes the most sense to me.

I think an SEC championship matchup of Auburn and Bama could be really fun
