Vacation ideas for December/January/February timeline

I second Quebec. I went there for the Ice Festival when I was a feshman in HS. We participated in the festival, toured Chateau Frontenac, went tobogganing, had a lunch one day somewhere outside of Quebec at a quaint little inn, climbed a frozen waterfall, took a carriage ride....so much fun!

I'm waiting on travel agent to get back with me, might be booking Punta Cana for just after christmas

I'm thinking Key West!

RIU Palace in Puerto Vallarta. By far best all inclusive we've been to. Also Cabo is pretty awesome.

Great thread by the way!

Anybody do New Orleans? I'm eyeing it in December before Christmas.

Key west is outstanding.

Vegas would be fun....

I've been to Punta Cana. It was my least favorite part of the Caribbean we've visited. Beautiful place, not much to do outside of the resorts. If you're content with sipping drinks on the beach all day, the place is wonderful.

Aruba is beautiful, probably a little more than what you are wanting to spend though.

I can't recommend the Riviera Maya, Mexico enough. Specifically the Playa Del Carmen area. We've been 3 times and prefer it over Cancun. The beaches in Cancun are terrible. The Riviera Maya is a little more laid back. If you get the right flight, you can leave Lexington, Cincinnati or Columbus early in the AM and be on the beach by the early afternoon.

The RIU Palace Riviera Maya is a great resort. Just keep in mind with All Inclusive resorts, you get what you pay for.

I'll post some pics shortly.

I love the Riviara Maya. Two pieces of advice.

1. Bring your own drinking cups. The ones they have are very small.

2. Under no circumstances should you let pool water from around the pool bar get in your mouth. Some people sit there for hours, never leaving the pool.

For those of you who have done all-inclusive resorts, what site/agent do you typically book through?

For those of you who have done all-inclusive resorts, what site/agent do you typically book through?

The first couple times we went we used a travel agent in our area. It made us feel a little more at ease because we could easily reach her if we had any trouble once we arrived.

Since then, we've become much more comfortable with the process and have used Expedia, Cheap Caribbean and Apple Vacations.

Most of the larger online travel sites will have representatives in the lobby for a few hours a day to help you with anything you need. They will arrange your transportation back to the airport for you, set up excursions, etc.

If you do book your trip online, don't forget to add transportation to and from the airport.

I have always used Discount Cruises, Last Minute Cruises, Cruise, Cruise Line, Cruise Vacation for cruises and all-inclusives.

I chose January 16-23 and a 4 star all-inclusive with airfair out of Louisville to Punta Cana is $1209 per person and out of Cincinatti it's $1113

A 4 star in Cozumel for same dates is $1060 out of Louisville and $1215 out of Cinci

May seem odd to some but I got my eye on Cuba.

Not many people have been there of course but I would love to give it a try.

I can understand that, North Korea has always fascinated me.
