Dillon Powell 233 rushes 1697 yards 7.3 yards a carry 144.4 yards a game 23 tds and 16 catches 186 yards 1 td. Has lead 6A in rushing and scoring most of the year 152 pts. Also very close to getting over 4000 career rushing yards.

Kash Daniels should and IMO will win this award. Close second is Baker from Ashland. Perhaps the bias away from the smaller schools will hurt Kash, but he's the best football player in the state, and he's going to UK. If he were at a big school in a platoon system just playing LB it would be a runaway.

The only player in the state that impacts a game on both sides of the ball like Daniel is Brett Slusher from Beechwood. I have seen him almost singlehandedly step up at crucial times in big games and makes play after play that stops a drive. Tough for a WR / LB to get votes for a POY / Mr. Football award but if anyone deserves votes from those positions it is Slusher. If Beechwood gets to the championship game, he will make plays there that will show everyone what I am talking about.

He indeed is a very special player.

It is awfully, awfully hard (and extremely rare) for a defensive only player to be a "runaway" Mr. Football.

I think playing offense HELPS Daniels' cause, not hurts it.

 

If your theory was correct, you'd think we'd be hearing about someone from Male, since they're a big-time school in a big city that platoons (plus Male played a tougher schedule and statistically has allowed the fewest points in 6-A). ... But I don't think a defensive only player from Male (or Trinity) is even in the running (forget running, try jogging or speedwalking).

I'm the first to compliment Kash and Q - I've seen both of them up close and personal at camps, watched the film, etc - both guys are deserving and I put them in my personal top 3 for the award. I would like to add, Kash and Q are top notch outside the football field - fine young men.

 

But I'm going to continue pushing for Burns - you guys from out in the state would really appreciate him if you had a chance to see Trinity play the past 2 years. UL is getting the best 2 way player in the state in my opinion. Pretty special when a D1 college team in the ACC doesn't even know where the kid might play on the next level...may end up playing WR and DB for the Cards.

 

For everyone at Male last week, we all witnessed Rodjay making the catch across the middle at the end of the game (20-19 then the missed PAT)...Rodjay was knocked out cold and still managed to hold on to the ball. I had flashbacks of Terrell Owens making the game winning catch for the 49ers back in the day (before TO was weird).

Very good points. As I said earlier this year, Burns improved more from junior year to senior year than any other player I can think of.

2 that haven't been talked about. Walker Wood qb Lafayette he is a Jr. UK commit over 1000 yards rushing and over 2000 passing. Also Lafayette tackle #67 6'7 300 pounds UK commit he plays boths ways.

You forget Dennis Johnson won Mr.Football by defense alone! Yes he played O-line but he D-Line is where you earned the award.

Have to agree with VOR, Slusher from BW has to get some consideration, not to take anything away from the other fine BW players, but Slusher has put this team squarely on his back and they are in the finals. Not sure if he will win, but I know if I started a team he would be my first pick to build around.
