Wakefield not in the discussion. Spent some time on sideline with injury and not enough reps due to blow out victories. If anyone from Male was in the discussion, need to consider the QB Shelton.

There's not a player better in the state than Quinton Baker. If he leads Ashland to a win over JC this award is his. I know Kash is probably the front runner because he's going to UK and is a popular name because of that and not taking away anything from him and his senior season but Quinton Baker is the best player in the state.

 

The big problem with Baker is there are not very many voters on this end of the state. He may be the best player and I think he is but getting the votes are another thing.

Riley Hall, kid is a gunslinger. Big arm, mobile, and high football IQ. He has led his team to BG the last 2 years and with a chance to do it again this season. Riley Hall for Mr. Football

Ashland and Baker will need to beat Johnson Central in order for Baker to win it. If they lose then Kash Daniel will likely have it locked. It has also helped Kash Daniel that he is out there. I've seen him all over Twitter. He's been on statewide podcasts. Hasn't he been on KSR also? I haven't seen Baker out there like that.

If Baker has a big game against a tough Johnson Central defense and gets his team deep in the playoffs, then I think Baker will have a chance to steal it from Daniel.

If we're talking strictly about what's transpired on the field(i.e., not who's going to what college), Quinton Baker should probably be the frontrunner right now. He's the state's leading rusher for an 8-0 team that's ranked #3 in 4A. He's got five 200yd games so far this year with a season low of 147 in a game that that he only played about three quarters of.

With Josiah Robbins slipping up just a bit against LexCath, I think it's opened the door for Q to be #1 on the list for now. He has a chance to solidify his status as frontrunner with a huge game and a win against Johnson Central this Friday. That game will be one of, if not the, marquee games around the state this week. The question is... Can Baker shine brightest on the big stage?

 

He wil be Great. Don't worry about him showing up. If the other 10 around him play to their potential and talent he will go off Friday.

It has to be a VERY SPECIAL player in a year without a special offensive player. Otherwise they get passed over.

Kurt Barber, Dennis Johnson, Micah Johnson, Lamar Dawson all had incredibly special seasons on defense. Barber and Micah Johnson also had a strong offensive season that helped. Kash is having a strong season on both sides of the ball which I think gives him the edge

I for one would much rather see the head coach submit a highlight real to a committee of voters from all areas of the state. The watch each players highlight video that is not longer than ten minutes, talk about it and then have sealed voting. This is a very important award and I hate to see a kid left of just because he lives in an area of the state that has very few voters.

If best player I'd say best candidates are Daniel, Baker and Rodjay Burns.
