If you ask me, the 2006, 2008, 2013, and 2014 teams were all very similar personnel wise. They all had their own standout athletes. But those athletes dos not make those teams make playoff runs. It was the other players, the non-standout athletes. It was Loren Huffman, Patrick Hamilton, Corey Baldridge, Cody Chinn, Cody Kelley, Timmy McCommas, Andrew Salyers, Austin Manis. These were ALL great athletes that helped the teams make a great playoff run. Some were below average, some were average and some were above average. That's what Raceland Football is about. Taking pride in what your team has. Taking that pride and kicking another teams butt come Friday night.

 

Raceland doesn't have any state titles, but I'm 100% sure that the Rams will be in Bowling Green in the next four years. It's a bold statement but it's what I expect. Not predict, expect.

 

I've seen what Raceland has coming up, and while I don't know specific names I think that is a very realistic expectation.

Not a Fairview fan.....comet fan. In fact, I think what happened at Fairview by some adults was criminal and should be treated as such. I'm not for punishing kids for what the adults did and said was ok. I do not hate the Rams, their program, their fans, the town ,the field, the river, the trees........Some people just can't be objective or handle the truth about their team. The Bowling Green talk and the running clocks were just not reasonable. Lets review what I've said from opening day about the Rams.

1. The Rams have a rich football tradition and I wish the Comets had that.

2. This years Rams are not as good as last years team and will not make a deep playoff run because..........A. Lost to much skill due to graduation and could not replace it.....fact of life at small schools. B. Skill gives the Rams trouble, just can't match up. C. The O/D line is the strength of the team. D. No D-1 players (there are not many in Eastern Ky anyway) E. Kicking game is horrible (can't make a deep playoff run with this kicking game). F. Passing game is average AT BEST. G. Ram players seem to think they can turn "it" on and off each week.

 

Are these things not true? Has nothing to do with hate or the Comets winning a few games, just an objective assessment of a football team.......like it or not. BTW, I like how raider5 hides behind Ram Nation telling them to gang up on me. It's like a little brother hiding behind a big brother that can't fight his own fights. Hilarious!

Your statements about this years Raceland squad definitely makes some good points. I may disagree with a couple but overall imo you made a fair assessment :thumb:.

 

(Now, as for you and raider5, that's between you two and a EC/WC thing probably and I have no imput or comment on that one. )

Just want to give credit where credit is due. Abby Jones did win two individual state championships for Raceland last year in the pole vault and 100m dash.

 

Messer won four individual Class A State titles this past year (Pole Vault- New Class A State record, Long Jump, High Jump, & the 110 High Hurdles). Also won three the year before (Pole Vault, High Jump, 110 High Hurdles, & State Runner-Up in the Triple Jump).

People can keep posting on this if they want but the long lost Raceland / Paintsville thread I was seaking of was found. Somehow a poll got put on this one and it's te final score thread for last week's Fairview / Raceland game.

I am 100% sure it will be cold this winter, not predicting any cold weather but it is what I expect. Expectations are subjective.........not a bold statement unless you predict it. Give a year and some evidence.

Raceland is a solid program nothing outstanding like most eastern Kentucky programs. Area will be crushed even more with the coal and steel industries suffering worldwide. This place will be a ghost town.

They have basically, an open shot at the semis each year. Playing Pikeville or Hazard, most likely, in the semis. After this year, Paintsville, IMO, will be the only team to give the Rams possible trouble. But losing Kash is a big blow. They will still have Phelps and, from what I've heard, his younger brother is pretty good too. But they will also lose their line in the next two years. Fairview will be rough. Paris, Nocholas, and Bishop will all be okay programs, but I don't see them giving the Rams any fits in the playoffs.

 

Listen cometman, if you don't have high expectations for your team, what do you have? Hope? That sure isn't enough. I'm sorry, but West isn't going to Bowling Green anytime soon with their route. Not a knock on WC, I hope they prove me wrong, but my "expectations" for WC is to have a winning season each of the next four years. Will that happen? I guess that's a question for you to answer. I like Coach Brown and WC. Always play with pride and effort, but they're in a rough path to get to BG.

 

Expectations is what built the Ram program. It's how it is. Expectations don't build every program, but it built our, along with Ram Pride and tradition. It's how it is. I don't know how else to explain it unless you play for the Rams. It's a special place and no one will understand that unless you are a part of it.

Not being rude but honestly it could be the last time for a while that reads Fairview having more points than Raceland at the end of the game. It sucks but after Roy and Washington leave it will be pretty bare.

Not rude, you're right, I think our middle school is barely fielding a team. The sanctions from the Musik/McPeek garbage have only begun to sting. Will be years before we recover.

Stay the course Eagles, give Fred Ray time. He knows what he is doing.

Definitely be hard to replace Roy, I've watched him since his freshman year and he was good then. I'll have to say that he is the best QB in Eastern Kentucky and probably the Ashland-Huntington-Ironton Tri-state Area. With his size and overall abilities, he should be getting D1 offers.
