October 8, 201510 yr Seemed pretty divided at near the end of W's presidency. I think we are just a divided country. We only come together on tragedy or necessity. Obama's presidency will be regarded as above average in 20 years. Especially considering the wreck he got. Not even running W down there because 9/11 changed his presidency. I admire our president's resiliency and willingness to complete his agenda while others call him the great divider. Looking back through history some would call Lincoln a great divider too, but he did what was necessary.
October 8, 201510 yr I knew America wasn't ready for a black president when it was announced he was running. My opinion on that hasn't changed.
October 8, 201510 yr Hey PP, I bet Obama plays more golf than your dad ever did. Him and every other President since golf has been relevant.
October 8, 201510 yr Hey PP, I bet Obama plays more golf than your dad ever did. Whatever it takes to unwind. I guess when you are president you stop being human. :ohbrother:
October 8, 201510 yr I knew America wasn't ready for a black president when it was announced he was running. My opinion on that hasn't changed. I think people would be fine with Carson.
October 8, 201510 yr I knew America wasn't ready for a black president when it was announced he was running. My opinion on that hasn't changed. How is that. he was loved by the media which influences everyone. Hollywood loves him. He won both elections by a lot. Just because a few don't agree with him or like him doesn't mean America wasn't ready. I mean people voted in a black man with a muslim name. How more ready does a country have to be.
October 8, 201510 yr I have to tie the topic here to the thread regarding the voter registration suppression effort in Alabama. Reading that thread really made me feel that we have overestimated how far we have come in race relations. Ben Carson is slowly becoming a viable candidate for the GOP nomination. I will follow his campaign with interest.
October 8, 201510 yr Speaking strickly from my experiences as a white male, which is most certainly not the same as yours as a black male. I don't think it is as bad across the country as our BGP conservative members or our fellow Kentuckians at large will have you believe. I think Obama is the furthest thing from arrogant, he's a smart, thoughtful and inclusive man. Probably to a fault. I think his Presidency has been very successful on all fronts and we will have another black president. My guess is it will be Cory Booker in another couple of cycles. Whoever is the next black, woman, democrat President will be hated in KY and on BGP. They will be dumb, arrogant, weak, etc., etc. Hard to argue that he has been very successful at promoting his agenda. Curious, what parts of that agenda do you feel have benefited the US?
October 8, 201510 yr I can't remember a time when the US feels as divided as it does now. Then you aren't old enough to remember the 60's.
October 8, 201510 yr Whatever it takes to unwind. I guess when you are president you stop being human. :ohbrother: Certainly don't begrudge Obama for playing some golf to unwind--Who would want that job anyway. Personally would love to see the foursome of Obama, Reid, Pelosi and Hillary play golf all day/every day for the next year+ of Obama's remaining term.
October 8, 201510 yr Could you imagine the 60's with today's social media and media coverage? :scared:
