October 6, 201511 yr This is nuts thankfully the two officers were there to save the man's life. One in particular knew not to shoot the snake causing it to constrict tighter. October 6, 201511 yr I'm afraid I would have made matters worse. My instinct tells me to cut the snake's head off and then unwrap it. I think I remember a few years ago when someone was killed in northern ky from a pet snake. Apparently, the owner had been drinking and started messing with his snake and it attacked him and wrapped around his head. The other person on the scene called 911 and by the time they arrived the guy was dead. I remember thinking then, "Why didn't they get a kitchen knife and cut its head off?" they would have saved the guys life. Apparently, killing the snake would make it squeeze harder instead of going limp. I didn't know that. It would probably make it easier to unwrap, though since you wouldn't be worried that it might attack you.

I know all of us here don't beat up on the police too much but society does and this is another instance where you call the police and they take care of it for you free of charge. Those officers are heroes, I am sure they didn't think fighting 15 Foot Killer Pythons was in the job description when they signed up.
