How did Raceland pull it out in the end?

LC had the ball and did not take a knee to end the game. Instead LC ran the FB and on second effort, he fumbled for a Raceland scope and score (under 1 min to play when this happened). Crazy ending.

LC had the ball. All they had to do was take a knee. Instead, they gave it to the fullback, he fumbled, Raceland scooped and scored.

20-18, Lawrence Co.

First of all, thank you so much to Devilmaycare and others for posting updates, I didn't feel like posting due to problems with this M.S. that I battle constantly, have had a real bad day.

Now for the only good thing for me today ......WHAT A GAME to listen to !!

Rams trail the entire game and still stay in the game, kept it close with their ever constant defense. Under a minute to go in the football game, LC running out the clock and fumble... Ram player scoops it up and returns for a TD ! Ensuing possession a Rams defender intercepts an LC pass and closes it out. Good luck to LC the rest of the way, you have an excellent football program and always have.

As the late Yogi Berra said ... "it ain't over until it's over" !!

As always .... it's a great day to be a Ram !

Proud of the Rams for never quitting. Our defense is lights out and opportunistic when it needs to be. Offensively, the weather didnt allow much ballance, but Kane had another solid performance. He is looking more like the back that I knew he could/would be incredible effort on his part after first contact. Nathaniel has GOTTA take better care of the football, though he did have a few big 3rd down conversions and our first TD. Got an off week to regrouo and get ready for our district run. Time to put up or shut up Rams. Tonight despite being out matched in the Atheleticism department, we found a way to win. Man Im proud of those kids.

Lawrence is much improved, bonehead decision on the Coaches part causes a 17 year old kid to be feeling horrible right now when he shouldnt have even been in position to fumble the ball. This loss for Lawrence falls on the shoulders of the coaching staff imo.

Is there any rationale for LC running the ball at that point in the game? Did Raceland have all their TO's, was it 3rd down, etc.? I have no knowledge of the specific game situation (only knew of how Raceland took the lead), but it seems crazy to not take a knee if the game had been decided. If there is no reason other than running up the score, then that is very sad for those kids. Nonetheless, congratulations to Raceland for never giving up and making the play!

Can someone please expand?
