Is there any rationale for LC running the ball at that point in the game? Did Raceland have all their TO's, was it 3rd down, etc.? I have no knowledge of the specific game situation (only knew of how Raceland took the lead), but it seems crazy to not take a knee if the game had been decided. If there is no reason other than running up the score, then that is very sad for those kids. Nonetheless, congratulations to Raceland for never giving up and making the play!

Can someone please expand?

It was 1st and 10, Lawrence Co. had just recovered a fumble on a QB sack of Raceland with 51 seconds left. LC quarterback hands of to fullback, he sweeps around left side, after gaining 7 or 8 yards, he is grabbed, then simultaneously hit by another Ram, the ball squirting out, Walker picks it up on the run near the 40 yard line and crosses the goal line with 35 seconds left on the clock.

Raceland had 2 remaining TO's.

LC could have definitely ran the clock out. Our guys were totally dejected after we lost the ball with 51 seconds, don't think anyone had a clue they would try anything other than taking a knee. It's definitely not over until it shows 0:00 on the clock after the last play is over.

How did Raceland pull it out in the end?

He didn't really lose it; it was stripped away by #33 (Walker) and the ball tumbled to the ground and Walker picked it up in stride and returned it 30 yards for the TD. It was 20-18 with about 0:35 on the clock when this happened.

The next game that I coach will be my first, BUT......what in the world was the Lawrence Co. coach thinking? :idunno:

First of all, thank you so much to Devilmaycare and others for posting updates, I didn't feel like posting due to problems with this M.S. that I battle constantly, have had a real bad day.

Now for the only good thing for me today ......WHAT A GAME to listen to !!

Rams trail the entire game and still stay in the game, kept it close with their ever constant defense. Under a minute to go in the football game, LC running out the clock and fumble... Ram player scoops it up and returns for a TD ! Ensuing possession a Rams defender intercepts an LC pass and closes it out. Good luck to LC the rest of the way, you have an excellent football program and always have.

As the late Yogi Berra said ... "it ain't over until it's over" !!

As always .... it's a great day to be a Ram !

I hope you get to feeling better, Old Rambler!

Cecil is a GREAT guy but not known as a great coach. Lawrence had the game won and ended up getting beat by basic mathematics. Tough to swallow

I hope you get to feeling better, Old Rambler!

Thank you so much and welcome to BGP, this is THE BEST site going. Also, glad to have another Ram Fan on here. Can't have too many, look forward to your post.

Thanks for the info. Walker is a beast on defense, a playmaker.
