How much would a star NFL "non-scrambler" QB help a struggling high school team?

Featured Replies

Assuming that they are allowed to "prep" for the game (and not just thrown into the fray), they'd surgically dissect the defense. If their receivers can catch a ball, they (the QB) will be able to throw most of them open. There's no high school defense out there that will EVER compare to what these guys face on any given Sunday.

I think that's the question being posed in this thread.

FWIW, I agree, I think they'd absolutely obliterate every team they play. But it is a valid question as to whether they have receivers that are good enough to catch, because believe me, there are a ton of teams that don't have that.

So, are we dealing in the extremes again? If we're asking if an NFL QB can turn the absolute worst, skill-deprived, talent-lacking, team with a low football IQ into a state championship team...then, no. If you're asking if he CAN be a difference...in many situations, the answer is absolutely, yes.

Its going to be hard to give a blanket answer. But, I will say this...if a kid can catch a pass thrown by their coach in practice...then an NFL QB will be a huge factor with that same kid in a game.

If Big Ben were a high school QB no one would ever be able to sack him. Mainly because he would probably be bigger than every lineman and most NFL defensive players cannot tackle him 1 on 1

Think about a guy like Tim Couch. I am not familiar with Leslie County football, but they are not a traditional force and he turned them into one. Travis Atwell at Hancock County who nearly single handily took the Hornets to the state title in 2003. And these were high school QBs. Not pro QBs (yet for Couch). Not hard to see where a pro QB would be worth 50+ or so points to a team.

Tom Brady on high school squad vs another high school team would be an absolute blowout. Tom would probably rush for 250 if he wanted to. The results would be similar to the last ridicuolous thread you posted (UK vs. a high school team).

Farce use to throw to HS kids all the time. Now in the NFL he could throw it hard enough to break fingers. So I think they can take enough off the ball for a decent group to catch the ball. Also like someone else said there is a HUGE difference between open in HS and open in the NFL.

I think his point is could the HS receivers catch the passes enough for it to make a difference in the outcomes.

Someone must have caught their passes in HS

Someone must have caught their passes in HS

No way any of their arms were the same in high school as they are or were in the NFL. There is just no comparison.

Pro athletes are pros because they are far superior to everyone else. That is is any sort. For example there is probably no high school tennis player, even the best, who could return a pro tennis player's serve regularly, if at all.

Dalton would destroy high school teams , as would Blaine Gabbard. Those that are great runners like Cam, Kaep, Wilson. They could score at will rushing, or at least most of the time.

Could you just imagine Cam Newton playing QB for any high school team, as he is today. He would make Trimble County the favorite in their class by a mile. It would be just embarrassing to the other teams. He would hurt kids just with his strength and power.

I know he is a scrambler but it really wouldn't matter which QB on a Pro roster, they would literally dominate.
