How much would a star NFL "non-scrambler" QB help a struggling high school team?

Featured Replies

This is another question out of curiosity. In my honest opinion, if Brady came in for CCH against Desales he wouldn't make much of a difference. You have to get open and receive the ball. If Brady or Manning throws an open bullet pass to a high school receiver, I don't think he'll react fast enough. Or maybe I'm wrong. How much would a star QB like Rodgers, Dalton, or Brady make a difference in a game for a struggling team. Like for example, CCH vs Cinci Saint X and Dalton comes in. How much would he help? Or HHS vs Simon Kenton and Brady comes in for HHS.

They would completely dominate in every aspect.

They're very immobile QBs (well outside of Rodgers) when lined up against NFL caliber talent. They'd be able to do whatever they wanted with both their feet and their arms.

Their ability to put the ball where they want to (given the fact that there's not an NFL defense facing them) would mean that receivers wouldn't have to be "open" the way they are for the HS QB's.

I think his point is could the HS receivers catch the passes enough for it to make a difference in the outcomes.

I agree they'd be like a man amongst boys. But Dalton or Brady would have to rely on the receivers on struggling teams. The fact that the team struggles mightily against coverage, Dalton for example would have a hard time giving them the ball despite his accuracy. If Russell Wilson were to play though for CCH against St.X (despite him being a subpar QB) he'd utterly embarrass the defense and would take over the ground game.

Andy Dalton could run every single play he had the ball against a high school defense and he'd totally dominate. So could Tom Brady. They're mobile enough that they'd destroy HS defenses with their legs.

I agree. While maybe they wouldn't take off and run circles around guys, they would look like Aaron Rodgers does mobility wise, if that makes sense. These guys are great athletes even though they may not look like it when compared to their pro contemporaries.

You think so? I can see that being true. If Brady and Dalton is obviously NFL trained, especially in the pocket, high school defense would be like playing basketball with a Fisher Price hoop set.

Absolutely...He ran for over 1,600 yards at TCU. He averaged nearly 4 yards an attempt while averaging over 8 rushes a game. That's in college. He'd destroy HS defenses.

So if the score is 42-3 HHS vs SK and 57-7 CCH vs X. How would the scores change?

I know absolutely nothing about either of those teams, but whatever team has the NFL QBs on it will win going away.

I don't know how much of an athlete Brady is, have you ever seen his combine? But I get your point.

5.28 40 yard dash / 24.5 inch vertical

Let's suppose for the question that if they crossed the line of scrimmage before a ridiculous amount of time had run off (let's say 15 seconds from snap) that it was a penalty. i.e. They have to throw it rather than just use the fact that they're full grown men that can run over high school kids. What then?

Assuming that they are allowed to "prep" for the game (and not just thrown into the fray), they'd surgically dissect the defense. If their receivers can catch a ball, they (the QB) will be able to throw most of them open. There's no high school defense out there that will EVER compare to what these guys face on any given Sunday.
