Biggest Class 5A District 1 battle this year! Owensboro after an Open week prepares to host a Christian County team that blitzed struggling Marshall County with powerful special teams performances, mostly by talented Keyron Catlett! I don't look for Christian to be able to run on the vaunted Owensboro defense. This will put alot of pressure on super talented SO QB Kolbe Langhi to make plays. Who wins this game and why?

Owensboro....just a better all around team.

Owensboro wins

Defense is very strong and I believe it is time for their offense to start trying to click.

The only way I see Christian County winning this game is for the Colonels special teams to dominate and for Langhi to connect on some big 3rd down passes to move the chains and keep the clock rolling and their D off the field.

This is going to be a fun game for us (The Homers) to cover. I'm really excited to see Christian County's dynamic duo of Kolbe Langhi and Keyron Catlett. OHS' run defense is very stout so in order for Christian County to upset the Devils, they'll have to have success through the air. Owensboro Catholic's Ray Zuberer sliced the Devils defense at times and Langhi will have to have a similar performance in order for the Colonels to make a game of it. Keyron Catlett is a speedster but OHS has faced a few speedsters already this year on OCath's Shamari Morton and BG's Jamele Carrothers.

Offensively, OHS showed improvement against Daviess County last week. QB Zach Gross was an efficient 5-8 for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns. WR Jahlil Barret went to work last week shredding the DC defense for 110 yards receiving on only 2 receptions. OHS has weapons aplenty with WR's Kishawn Walker and Gekove Gardner, but it's been the running combo of TJ James and Landon Board that has made OHS even more dangerous. The Devils boast a huge offensive line and Landon Board runs as hard as any kid i've seen this season and through 5 games has rushed for 548 yards against a quality schedule.

I look for Christian County coach Steve Lovelace to break out the ole cover 0 and cover 1 defenses he's used against OHS over the years on Friday. Lovelace will stack the line and box and dare OHS to beat them deep. In the past, OHS has struggled against teams that played them like that, but this season OHS' playcalling has improved significantly. OHS is built to beat that style with their multiple sets, huge offensive line, hard charging running backs, and quality wide receivers.

I think this game is close for a quarter, possibly even a half. I think OHS' line and defense will wear the Colonels down and OHS wins going away.

I chose this game for the WKY contest, but that was much more a reflection of the other games available. These teams are close in the rankings, but there's a pretty sizable gap between the two. Christian County has talent, but they're still a bit away from really being back to the program they were at the decade's start.

Owensboro has a ton of experience and I think it will pay off in this game. Daviess played cover 0 most of the night it seemed against OHS. I'm thinking it may be the same result if they try. Owensboro knows THIS game is the key regular season game on their schedule. The winner looks to have homefield until the state final. If Owensboro uses them, they have so many weapons as D58 pointed out. I think if the defense if riding high, Owensboro will keep it mostly on the ground. Therefore:

Owensboro 28-7

Owensboro ran, and ran against DC and then blew the doors open with some very timely passing.

Owensboro has one of the best all around teams in the state. If they are clicking, Christian County will lose big. If they have an off night, CC has a chance. The Red Devils don't lose many games at Rash Stadium. It's time to get that machine rolling, if they want to be ready for that Bowling Green rematch in the Region Finals. I hope both make it that far. It will be a war!

I think county wins by two touchdowns and the game will be close all the way through. These are two very good football teams both have good quarterbacks and speedy guys. But county don't get enough credit on defense I think that's because of bowling green putting numbers on county which is not fair but makes since in terms of playing good competition.

County will score last two touchdowns in last minutes of the game..

Glad your back Cards! Goodluck Friday!

I'm not saying Christian County can't win, but a 14 point win at Rash Stadium against this OHS team is a bold prediction. I'm excited to see Christian County in person. I look for the Colonels to get after OHS with a lot of pressure on defense.

I agree with Purple adoptee that if OHS is clicking, Christian County is in trouble. OHS seems to be getting the offense in line and if that happens everyone in 5A could be in trouble. I'm looking forward to a good test against a quality program with high level players. I wish Friday was tomorrow!

It really comes down to what OHS does. If they show up and play mistake free, they will win going away. I noticed CC has forced 14 turnovers through their first 6 games, more than 2 per contest. OHS has struggled a little bit with turnovers, so that could be something to watch if CC wants to keep this game close. At the end of the day, i think OHS has been stressing ball security and Gross is getting better with every game. Coming off the bye, i like the Devils to play a clean game and run away with it at home...

The team that will win will be the one that has the players that are dedicated and not out drinking beer last weekend!

I think this one will be closer than people think. I know if you look at the B.G scores you have to give Owensboro a big edge. However, I know Coach Loveless and C.C. have had success against Owensboro in the past. I think it will come down to 2 things: 1.) Can Christian County have success running the ball? 2.) Can Owensboro hit a few big plays in the passing game? Whichever team can do this, will win. Still though got to give the edge to OHS since the game is at Rash. But I think it will be a good one.
